OH she needs to stay right where she is. She's occupying a seat that the Far Left has been chomping at the bit to get and turn into a giant soapbox.
While term limits should be in place, Feinstein not stepping down/bowing out is creating more problems for the Dems than the GOP.

Are you kidding, getting into Congress is like finding the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. There is NO WAY they are going to allow that to be taken away from them.

First thought that came to my mind. Oh, she’s slowing them down from confirming commie judges? May be the first good thing she’s done in her senate career.

That power must just be something else. None of them can let it go. Just last week the GOP had MM get a brain lock. RBG had one foot in the grave and one on a banana peel not even participating in any voting and she couldn’t give it up. It’s unbelievable.

We don’t need term limits if we have proper elections.

That being said, I’m under the assumption that politicians gain seniority the more terms they serve. That seniority grants them seats on powerful committees. Their constituents benefit by that power, so they keep re-electing them. Maybe that incentive system should be re-examined, or just done away with all together.

Or am I completely off base here? (a strong possibility)

Lets hope she stays stubborn and rides her term out bed ridden on support from California.

That way the Dems have to come to the table with the R's.

Newsome has promised to appoint a black woman to the seat if given the opportunity. That’s probably Barbara Lee. The establishment wants the seat to go to Adam Schiff and doesn’t want him to have to run against an incumbent Lee. Feinstein will remain until her term ends or she dies.

Nope. You are dead center. Also, incumbency is a dynamic force. Orrin Hatch stayed in office because from his position of power he could more effectively manipulate the nomination process in Utah. Works every time. That’s how Romney got elected and more likely than not, will be re-elected. So seniority and incumbent advantage comprise a sheer cliff face to scale.

That may be true, but a way around it is repealing the 17th Amendment (which never should have been ratified to begin with).

Sounds like JAllen. He was dead set against term limits, claiming proper elections is all we need. Nope, and there's a couple hundred years of proof. Incumbents, no matter how bad they suck, are reelected 98% of the time. Once they are there, they leave at their luxury, not your's or mine.

They will keep that twat on life support as long as they can get a vote out of it.

When it becomes useless to them, they'll pull the plug, then the crocodile tears, the "such a brave and strong woman..."

Term limits would only empower the permanent bureaucracy more than it is now. You think it’s hard to get rid of an elected official? How easy would it be to get rid of a senior government employee with 30 years on the job.

For the reasons cited, no term, age, or health limits. Besides, it is their relatives and staffers who decide how they vote, in tandem with "the party." Minor correction to statement that their constituents benefit by their power: their big donors are those who benefit first and then their constituents.

We already have a minimum age for the House (25), Senate (30) and President (35).

I see no reason why a maximum age at SS retirement isn’t appropriate. It does not empower a bureaucracy to know that someone will have 20 or 10 years left, and it is sufficiently clear to all that either party can prepare for the inevitable election.
