Don't you wish in your job you could vote your self a raise?

I can to do exactly that, any time, but then I'd have to work harder and longer hours to pay for the raise. ____________________

Wouldn’t that also require 2/3 majority of both houses before ratification could proceed?

[QUOTE]Originally posted by Gustofer: That may be true, but a way around it is repealing the 17th Amendment (which never should have been ratified to begin with).[QUOTE] The 17th Amendment was one of the worse things this country has done. The Senate was originally implemented to assure the states had representation in our government. That is why they were appointed by state legislators. Look how the federal government now steamrolls over the states, and we are stuck with corrupt lizards for decades. _________________________ "Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it." Feinstein won’t retire because Pelosi won’t let her. If Feinstein resigns, Gov. Newsome will appoint her replacement and he has vowed to appoint a black woman congresswoman Lee. But Pelosi wants Schiff to get that senate seat. Since Gavin is related to Pelosi, I don’t know why she doesn’t tell him to appoint Schiff. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual."
