I have to get recertified every 2 years as a FF, which for any civilian is I think the recertification window. So if its been more than two years I suggest you go find a course and spend a few hours. The protocol has changed signifigantly. “So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.”

My job requires it every year. So I've been current in first aid and cpr for almost 30 years. _____________________________________ "We must not allow a mine shaft gap."

What has changed?? In the 15 years I’ve been retired, the ONLY thing that has changed is the max depth of compressions and don’t bother with a pulse check. The rate of compressions is still the same for adults and children. -------- After the game, the King and the pawn go into the same box.

Every couple of years the Red Cross comes out with new training materials that have some insignificant change ,Companies have to buy the new books and videos . Big bucks I'm sure .

It depends on the certification level. Pulses are still checked for BLS level certification. And children/infants that are unresponsive get compressions if they are under 60 HR. AHA has adopted the Red Cross choking back slaps for adults. Pushing the belly over for pregnant women. New recommendations on compression method on infants. Etc. In general, nothing crazy. But there are usually minor changes every couple of years. And vastly different than 20 years ago. Knowing what one is talking about is widely admired but not strictly required here. Although sometimes distracting, there is often a certain entertainment value to this easy standard. -JALLEN "All I need is a WAR ON DRUGS reference and I got myself a police thread BINGO." -jljones
