That brought back memories of an incident 85-86 era.
A auto transport driver was delivering cars to the dealership I worked at. I was also a volunteer firefighter/EMT with a municipal department in a neighboring county where I lived, about fifty miles away. Truck driver slipped and fell to the ground suffering a head injury.
Someone came to my department and I began treating the trucker while I had someone call the local fire rescue service. The responders were advanced first aid certified so legally I could not pass off the patient unless someone with the same or greater training lever was on scene which happened a short time later. Their Chief (EMT)requested I continue treatment until the handover to the local ambulance service that was enroute.
So when the local ambulance service arrived I stood up from the patient’s side and as i was trying to present my EMT license to one of the crew he started to shove his hand into my chest and said “We don’t need any civilians here!”
Let’s just say that he got “educated” real quick by his partner, the Chief and myself.
