"The deals you miss don’t hurt you”-B.D. Raney Sr. |
Yes, I know this is a gun forum, but I also know there are some farm/ranch types on here. Is there anything on the market today is equivalent/comparable to the old Ford 100” shredder? I used one growing up and it could put a finish mower to shame when set up correctly. You’d almost throw rocks at a 3pt shredder after using one.

Yep Bush Hog brand 2010 can be had with a pull tongue https://www.tuttlemotor.com/in...et-tx-78065-1193536i

2308 would be real similar too in a pull configuration http://www.bushhog.com/catalog...indle-rotary-cutter/

I’ve seen those, they seem a bit heavy for the intended niche I have planned. Also seems we pulled the old Ford shredders with MUCH smaller tractors. Then again, I grew up on 2 cylinder JD’s. The smallest we had at the time was a 730...62hp I think... I’m looking for something I can pull behind my little 30hp(ish) 950 JD that will at least cut the wheel tracks. My current little sq600 bush hog just takes too long. And I know it won’t pull my 8’ Landpride. Probably won’t pull my 7’ 3pt bushhog either. Mainly, I need to get the ole 4320 JD back up & running, or do some serious tractor shopping

You know what? This thread is mostly in vain, I just remembered the 950 doesn’t have remotes for the hydraulics..... Argh! Getting forgetful in my old age. Although I have run 3pt chredders sans toplink....

You can get the pull types with manual ratchet type lift cylinder instead of hydraulic. Look on the bush hog site they have a neat seven foot two spindle light duty too. It has 3pt but back wheels too, kind of a hybrid semi mount so you don't need auxiliary hydraulics. http://www.bushhog.com/catalog...rotary-cutters/#tabs A two spindle 8' or 7' will always be easier to turn with lower horsepower than a single spindle 7'. Those long blades on a single spindle are heavy and have to take a big bite. Once you slow them down it takes more to get them back up to speed and make up for the lost momentum.

The old 100’s were belt drive. Excellent for pasture not so good in brush. Everything I know of are gear driven now. Sounds like you have several shredders but not the horsepower. I think another tractor would be a good bet.

You can add them. I had them added when I bought my Kubota B7800 (a 30'ish HP model). The salesman I bought it from had just moved into sales from many years as the parts department manager. He knew what he needed and how to make it happen. I have 3 rear remotes.

I sorta bought this little JD on a whim. I always said I’d never have anything smaller than a 50hp tractor. I figured if nothing else it’ll be transportation after the terrorists set off a high altitude EMP. ![]() But it is handy for driveway duty and a few other projects. I really just need to go tractor shopping. ~75 Hp cab & air and FEL.

Those little Yanmar built Deeres are awesome. Half decently taken care they keep going and going. Nothing better for grading the driveway, digging post holes, tilling a garden and stuff like that.
