As best as I can figure, Kent had to drive 35 miles to the DQ for the steak fangers and fixins. .

Kent’s smoked meatloaf is one of our favorites to make. Love his channel. And especially how he ends every video with gratitude to vets and first responders. A real, humble, talented, great American.

If you’re used to Griff’s steak fingers stick with those. The DQ variant is serviceable, but Griff’s are better. Success always occurs in private, and failure in full view. Complacency sucks…

When Mrs Mike and I were visiting Texas looking for a home we went out to eat to a country grill in the middle of nowhere with our realtor. Waitress slides up and hands out a menu. She left to gets us drinks and when she returned to take our order, Mrs Mike asked “what are steak fingers?” The waitress doesn’t miss a beat and looks at Mrs Mike and says, “where are you from?” I started laughing out loud (pro tip fellas...don’t laugh out loud when your wife has done something foolish). The look I got would turn mere men into stone. And it took a lot of being nice to her to get her to warm back up to me. Yep, the DQ in Hollis, Ok. has been closed for awhile. Sad day indeed. Loved that place when I was a kid. Would always go there and get a "Cherry Ice", think cherry coke without the coke. The sugar rush was awesome. The Boomerang is pretty much the only game in town now. It was pretty fine eating years ago. Hope it is still the same. Need to make a visit back to see some family one of these days. It's all about clean living. Just do the right thing, and karma will help with the rest.

Banned for showing his ass |
Great video ... the man is a character and the dogs are a hoot. Shared the link with my wife to watch. During these months of being cooped up we ran out of dinner ideas, looking at the recipes we will be making some new exciting dinners.

I saw this the day the video came out and by no coincidence at all, steak fingers will be dinner tonight. Never had the DQ version though so I have nothing to compare to. I had Cowboy Kent sourdough apple cinnamon rolls for brunch today. We've also done his mashed potato bombs, twice baked potatoes, a stroganoff/Hamburger Helper clone and his crispy bacon cheesy steak fries and his mac and cheese. His chicken dumpling soup too now that I think about it.....

I was born and raised about 30 miles from the town of Hollis where Kent and Shannon live, I still have family and friends there. We had a DQ and a Tastee Freez, both served the Steak Finger basket as well as a Chicken Finger basket. Sadly both of those are gone from the town I grew up in. Chicken Fingers are simply sliced chicken breasts and cooked the same way as the Steak Fingers. You HAVE to have a good gravy and Texas Toast in the basket. This is the first video of Kent Rollins I saw. It's great, enjoy. https://youtu.be/-At94Iqg_W4 I'm having trouble doing a direct link to the video. Click on the link.

Never heard of a steak fanger, but there is a DQ in Apopka not far from where I am scheduled for physical therapy three days this coming week. I'll have to stop in there. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

I checked the menu of our local DQ and no steak fangers at all. I guess it's a Texas thing.

^^^^^^ Not a problem, really. If you can make a good chicken fried steak, well then you're 95% there. The difference is pretty much you eat one with a fork, the other is finger food. You get the idea. If you have a small independent cafe that serves a really good chicken fried steak, just ask the cook if he can slice the steak first, then do the exact same thing to bread and fry it. If the cook can do well, urge them to put this on the menu. It'll be a fresh idea and a money maker. You just have to have a really good white gravy and well buttered Texas Toast. Be careful with cheap round steak, even if it's been run through the tenderizer machine. Gristle is crap to eat. As Kent described, a good strip steak makes mighty fine steak fingers. .
