CA charges an annual fee in addition to the registration fee for EVs that be as much as $175 for the most expensive cars.

As for charging, some of the electricity providers give a break on costs if charged during specific times (my local provider gives a break from midnight to 6AM). You have to register to get the rate, but I see no other costs added on to it.

There are about 30 states which have already enacted fees for EV’s to compensate for loss of gas tax. I pay an extra $120 for mine in LA. I’m ok with it. Local power provider gives incentives to charge during off peak times

So I read the article and it looks like it is an opt in thing.

We did have to get a permit and inspection for the charger station.

A program like that is irrelevant to me because of my solar system and power walls.
