Kick in? They can't give the things away. There won't be any mandate.

CA charges an annual fee in addition to the registration fee for EVs that be as much as $175 for the most expensive cars.

As for charging, some of the electricity providers give a break on costs if charged during specific times (my local provider gives a break from midnight to 6AM). You have to register to get the rate, but I see no other costs added on to it.

than is, you cannot plug your car into the existing 110VAC or 220 VAC (think: dryer) circuit and charge from 0200 to 0400 at the cheapest rte for electricity.

I have never heard of this. I live in California.

Reference?

I charge from a 220 outlet that’s powered mostly from my solar panel system.

That’s the first. I admit, i do not have an EV and going by someone who told me this after buying a tesla circa 2015

There are about 30 states which have already enacted fees for EV’s to compensate for loss of gas tax. I pay an extra $120 for mine in LA. I’m ok with it. Local power provider gives incentives to charge during off peak times

Before measuring the mining of materials needed for EV vs ICE cars of course. But while on the road they are roughly the same pollution wise. Which is basically none. So while I am opposed to taxes in general if taxes are to be applied maybe EV should have a mileage tax applied. If ICE drivers are the only ones paying gas taxes.

EV’s can go through tires faster because of instant torque, not really because of weight. I got the same 60,000 miles out of my a set of tires on my EV. Same as I get on any of my other vehicles. Why? Because I drive it like a normal person. If you did hole shots with a big block V8 you’d get the same tire life in an ICE vehicle… very little

So I read the article and it looks like it is an opt in thing.

We did have to get a permit and inspection for the charger station.

A program like that is irrelevant to me because of my solar system and power walls.
