| Get my pies outta the oven! ![]() |
I had ordered a couple of things from Amazon and was expecting delivery today. Each of our sons had practice tonight; the one at soccer and the other had baseball so I went with my one son to his baseball practice, and my wife went with the other son to his soccer practice around 5:45 I guess Amazon delivered two packages while we were both out. The app says delivery was made and there’s a picture of two packages sitting at our front door. Here is where it gets a little bit weird: there was only ONE package sitting there when we got home. The smart phone photo that shows up in the app shows a white envelope type package and a small cardboard box. The small cardboard box was there, but the envelope was nowhere to be seen. Why would a porch pirate only steal half of my stuff? I looked around in the bushes and off to the side of the porch to see if maybe the wind blew it or something, but it’s not there. Also checked with my next-door neighbor to see if it was possibly mis-delivered there which it has been on previous occasion. He doesn’t have it. Kind of aggravating now I have to go through this whole process of explaining to Amazon how I only got one of my packages even though the picture they sent me shows two packages. Has anyone ever seen a situation like this?

Those lightweight white and blue Amazon bubble envelopes quite frequently get blown off my porch. Luckily, I have a long brick wall on one side and a long wooden privacy fence line on the other, with my front porch sort of sitting at the base of a U, so they always get stuck on one or the other. So yes, it's very likely that it was blown off your porch.

^^^ that sounds plausible. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." I’ll go one weirder- we’re out of town for a tournament this weekend. I noticed Amazon has left two packets on my front porch (which we don’t use). Both packages (manila env sized), had supplements. One envelope was completely empty, like it hadn’t even been sealed. The other contained 2 of the 3 items that were listed as delivered. Wtf. __________________________ "Trust, but verify."

If wind blew it, how far away could it have gone? I have heard of delivery people uploading a photo to the system to "prove" delivery and then stealing the package themselves. It's at least one possibility.

Twice a week, here in tiny town, There are Facebook ads asking about undelivered , misdelivered and found packages. Then there are the theiving delivery driver vids on YouTube and the porch pirate vids. Then there the questions about how to go about returning unwanted items. Lucky for me , 96% of of what I purchase comes from a brick and mortar establishment. Safety, Situational Awareness and proficiency. Yet another reason I have an inexpensive video camera system at my home. That answers a lot of questions. ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

My delivery drivers are well aware of the door camera as it's right there in front. Then there's my sneaky bastard camera off to one side to keep them honest. ____________________________ Eeewwww, don't touch it! Here, poke at it with this stick.

I looked everywhere out front this morning and nothing. Starting to suspect the driver stole it after taking the confirmation picture. Do they know what is being delivered? One of the missing items was a bottle of some kind of health supplement for my wife and it was like $55 a bottle.

I have found those envelopes out in my lawn and out in the street. Pisses me off they put so little effort into it. There's plenty of things on my front steps to put them in/under/behind, but they leave them front and center to get tripped over, stolen or blown away. Is it showing that THE particular item was delivered? I've had packages show up and disappear, I guess they realized they screwed up and came back and got them. I've also gotten notice my packages were delivered, but the photos weren't of my house. I was able to figure out which houses on the next street they were and go and get them. Amazon's been strange lately. Last week three things turned up as "undeliverable", despite them having no issues dropping off other stuff.

I had one the other day where the picture of my package being delivered....was a picture of my package being delivered to my neighbor's house. I walked over and picked up my package. The neighbor was just getting ready to bring it over.

Well… Amazon screwed up here. My wife told me when I got home today that the two missing items showed up randomly today. Then my neighbor who I asked about this last night, said he saw on his security cameras the driver walk up to our house with two items in his hand, but then walked away with one item in his hand. Then went across the street and dropped the other item off over there. So this was a driver screwup. But he took a confirmation picture showing two items sitting there. I don’t know. I think these Amazon drivers are in such a rush they aren’t paying attention, I guess they are being timed on everything.

| Woke up today.. Great day! |
No. I watched a show about Amazon that was pretty cool. The driver never knows the contents unless it’s in the original box from manufacturer. Not even the guy thats packing the box knows. When he packs the box, the only label he puts on it is a barcode. When it leaves the packer the computer automatically looks up the barcode, prints the real label, then it gets loaded with others for sorting delivery.

Me too! I have an alcove at my front door, and my asshole builder put the doorbell on the sidewall instead of next to the door (i.e. facing the street). I replaced the doorbell with doorbell cam which gives a good NW view. My front door includes a full-height glass side panel so I have an inexpensive 2k camera there giving me a good NE view (i.e. overlapping fields of view with doorbell cam). As an added bonus, it's positioned low looking up so if somebody pulls down their hat to obscure their face to a normal camera this upward facing camera angle defeats it. I've caught the neighborhood kids doorbell ditch 'em multiple times with it because they only try to beat the doorbell camera.
