I am 49 and my wife is 52. We have a list of family and friends we send Christmas cards to every year. If we receive a card from someone not on the list then we send them one and add them to the list.

I have pretty much stopped using Christmas Cards at all. I create a special e-mail with some photos of the past year and send it to the few relatives and close friends I still have. (At 85 my contacts get fewer every year.)

Your poll is defective. In answer to the third question there needs to be a simple "No." I used N/A instead.

Wrt to the list: This year my wife elided from it those who stopped sending us Christmas cards or never did.

Correct. I have never included a letter or photo in a Christmas card.

We pretty much send to the same folks every year, whether we have gotten a card from them or not. Some get a photo, usually of the two of us and the dog, sometimes Santa makes the photo too.

My wife and I have separate lists, hers go out a few days after Thanksgiving, my much smaller list, they're lucky to get them before the end of the year.

I didn't vote in the poll.

I used to send a large number of Christmas cards. I would set down and write in Calligraphy and nice greeting, have a short personalized note, and address the envelope in Calligraphy and send them out by the first weekend of December.

It took days to do. Plus postage kept going up, I had less time to spend doing it, and I rarely got anything back, and if I did I was lucky if that person (whether it was family or friends) bothered to sign it. I got to the point that I don't bother with it anymore.

Our list is pruned each year to those sending last year. We composed a 1-sided page letter with related photos on the rear, with a dwindling overstock of past unused cards.

Our list shrinks as family & old friends die off.

Our list has been pruning down over the years and only a received card expands the list. Once we don’t receive a card for 2 years we cut you from the list. We are early 50s in age. The rate our list is dwindling we’ll stop in about 5 years.

We are down to sending out less than 40 cards. We started getting photo cards a few years ago as traditional cards have become harder to find .
We write notes on cards to folks we either don’t see regularly or stay in touch via social media

All cards, in my opinion, are a complete waste of time and money.

If I want to say something to someone, I call them and tell them.

I couldn't vote as you have to vote in all three or none at all.

The last question is missing my answer which is we never send a picture or anything else. Just a signed card.

I use software create an image for the face of our Christmas cards. I add images of us and our pets. We send them out every year regardless of whether we receive cards from the recipients.

Don't send them anymore, but must admit I do enjoy receiving cards especially from people I seldom see or talk to. Good to know they are still thinking of me (us).

I still send them out to immediate family, and some old coworkers that I stay in touch with. Very rarely (like maybe twice in over 40 years) have I enclosed a photo or letter.

Have you seen these new hand crafted ultra intricate three layer fact schmancy home made lavishly adorned custom holiday cards?

I am told they have computer cutters that crank them out.

Sparkles and glitter that leave most a Twitter.
