Dick Morris to Newsmax: Trump Is 'Set for a Big Win' in 2026 Midterms

President Donald Trump is positioned for a strong midterm showing, Dick Morris, an adviser to the president, said Saturday on Newsmax, while predicting Republicans will win majorities in both chambers of Congress.

"[It's] time to correct the Democratic doom and gloom about the upcoming elections," Morris told Newsmax's "The Count." "I think Trump is going to win the House and win the Senate."

Morris said Trump has positioned the economy for electoral success.

"I think that he's got the economy just where he needs it," he said. "It's creating jobs. He's got inflation well under control. He's reducing affordability costs that have plagued New Yorkers."

Calling the turnaround "so profound and so deep," Morris added, "We have almost 0% inflation and about 4% growth, and nobody possibly could have done that before. And it's just an incredible tribute."

On immigration, Morris said Trump "sealed the border" and "stopped illegal immigrants from coming in," adding, "I think that he is set for a big win on Election Day of this year."

Asked about recent Democrat victories in several races, Morris predicted Trump would remain competitive even in traditionally blue states.

"He'll carry New York like one and, but he'll carry swing states throughout the country," Morris said. "People have always underestimated Trump's ability to win, his ability to rally the average voter. And I think they're doing it again."

Morris also pointed to a potential Supreme Court ruling that he said could reshape the congressional map. "The Supreme Court, I think, is likely to throw out majority-minority districts," he said.

"Those seats that are Democrat only because they gerrymander the laws and the lines to make sure only Democrats and only liberal and Black Democrats can win," Morris continued. "And the Supreme Court is about to throw that out and say that's unconstitutional, race-based districting."

Morris added that such a decision would have sweeping effects in Congress, saying it "is going to obliterate plenty of Black congressmen and Hispanic congressmen who were elected from districts that they shouldn't be elected from."

Trump: High Court 'Accidentally' Boosted Presidential Powers

President Donald Trump lashed out at the Supreme Court on Monday morning after its 6-3 ruling last week struck down his sweeping trade tariffs, finding he lacked authority under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) to impose them.

The decision, handed down Friday, vacated the lower court rulings and held that IEEPA does not authorize the president to levy tariffs — an outcome that handed Trump a major legal setback on a centerpiece of his trade agenda.

In a lengthy Truth Social post, Trump argued the ruling may ultimately expand his leverage over foreign nations and trade policy, even as he criticized the court's reasoning and tone.

Trump wrote: "The supreme court (will be using lower case letters for a while based on a complete lack of respect!) of the United States accidentally and unwittingly gave me, as President of the United States, far more powers and strength than I had prior to their ridiculous, dumb, and very internationally divisive ruling."

He said the decision clarifies alternative tools he believes remain available, adding, "For one thing, I can use Licenses to do absolutely 'terrible' things to foreign countries, especially those countries that have been RIPPING US OFF for many decades, but incomprehensibly, according to the ruling, can't charge them a License fee – BUT ALL LICENSES CHARGE FEES, why can't the United States do so?"

Trump continued, "You do a license to get a fee! The opinion doesn't explain that, but I know the answer!"

Turning back to tariffs, Trump insisted the court's decision leaves room for other duties and enforcement mechanisms, writing, "The court has also approved all other Tariffs, of which there are many, and they can all be used in a much more powerful and obnoxious way, with legal certainty, than the Tariffs as initially used."

He blasted the majority while singling out three justices for praise, saying, "Our incompetent supreme court did a great job for the wrong people, and for that they should be ashamed of themselves (but not the Great Three!)."

Trump then pivoted to a broader warning about the court's direction on issues beyond trade, claiming, "The next thing you know they will rule in favor of China and others, who are making an absolute fortune on Birthright Citizenship, by saying the 14th Amendment was NOT written to take care of the 'babies of slaves,' which it was as proven by the EXACT TIMING of its construction, filing, and ratification, which perfectly coincided with the END OF THE CIVIL WAR."

He added, "How much better can you do than that? But this supreme court will find a way to come to the wrong conclusion, one that again will make China, and various other Nations, happy and rich."

Trump closed by vowing to press forward despite the setback, writing, "Let our supreme court keep making decisions that are so bad and deleterious to the future of our Nation – I have a job to do."

The Supreme Court's tariff decision immediately touched off renewed uncertainty across global markets and among U.S. trade partners, with foreign officials demanding clarity on what comes next.

There's an old proverb in sports, never, ever, leave the decision in the hands of the referees or judges. The outcome will be based on their interpretation of the events that led to the final decision being placed in the hands of those not involved in the battle.

Now is the time to pack the house and senate, and remove the McConnell's, Thune's, and any others in congress that are grandstanding and impeding the progress of the agenda we all voted into office with President Trump.

The lack of legislation is hampering the future of President Trumps actions and the agenda, things like this need to be handled by passing laws, not EO's that will be reversed the day a D POTUS is elected.

This decision though I agree with Trump, should never have been certified for a hearing by the court, remanded back to the lower court to fix it's ruling regarding Tariff's.

But it looks like the legal minds in Trumps circle have better plans.

I hope he is right, and if the elections are held fairly, I think he will be. But if Morris holds true to form, in a few weeks he will come out with the exact opposite prediction so he can go on TV and claim he predicted the outcome.

Dick Morris honestly thought the above then he sucks balls as a pundit.

If
Dick Morris knew 2012 was going to be a (D) victory then he is a dishonest clown of a grifter.

If the Democrats just kept skipping right off into the sunset we would be far better off. I could care less if they skip the SOTU we are better off in everything without them around. Trump would be wise to not even mention their absence.

Leavitt: Trump to Tout Record, Bold Agenda in SOTU

President Donald Trump will "tout the administration's accomplishments over the past year" in his State of the Union on Tuesday night while also laying out "a very ambitious agenda" to help American workers, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said.

Speaking to reporters outside the White House on Tuesday morning, Leavitt said Americans can expect a speech focused heavily on the economy, national security, and the administration's record at home and abroad.

"You're going to hear a speech that is a celebration of 250 years of our nation and our nation's independence. You're going to hear the president share the stories of everyday Americans who have benefited from his policies. You're going to hear the president share tear-jerking stories of American heroes, past and present, who really exemplify what it means to be a patriotic American," Leavitt said.

"He'll obviously tout the administration's accomplishments over the past year, and he will, of course, lay out a very ambitious agenda … for the working people of this country to make America more affordable and prosperous and safe and make the American dream more attainable."

Leavitt said a "large portion" of the speech will focus on the economy, with Trump making the case that he and Republicans are best equipped to continue tackling what she called the "affordability crisis that was created by the Biden administration and Democrats on Capitol Hill."

She pointed to mortgage rates dipping below 6% for the first time since 2022, noting they had surged above 8% under former President Joe Biden. During Trump's first term, she said, rates fell to record lows of 2.65%.

The president will also highlight signature tax proposals, including "no tax on tips, no tax on overtime, no tax on Social Security," Leavitt said.

She cited the example of a Pennsylvania waitress and her husband who stand to save thousands under those policies.

In a post on X ahead of the address, Leavitt said the speech will celebrate "250 glorious years of our nation's independence and excellence," and argue that Trump has "turned our country around from the brink of disaster."

He will declare that the state of the union is "strong, prosperous and respected," she wrote.

Trump is also expected to defend his immigration crackdown, call for increased military funding, and address tensions with Iran and Venezuela.

Leavitt confirmed the president will "proudly and rightfully say that the United States military is the strongest and most lethal fighting force in the world."

She defended "Operation Midnight Hammer," saying it "obliterated Iran's nuclear facilities," while emphasizing that Trump prefers diplomacy but is "willing to use the lethal force of the United States military if necessary."

Leavitt also blasted Democrats over the Department of Homeland Security funding fight, accusing them of hurting the Coast Guard, Federal Emergency Management Agency, Transportation Security Administration, and the Secret Service by delaying funding.

"It's completely avoidable if Democrats do the right thing," she said.

While some Democrats plan to boycott the speech, the White House says Trump will present a confident vision of a nation back on track and make the case that continued Republican leadership is key to restoring and protecting the American Dream.

They'll certainly embarrass themselves in our eyes. To leftists they might look defiant.

Not sure they'd ever top Pelosi's tearing up SOTU speech.

And petulant, misbehaving children need to be reprimanded, punishment at times. To ignore them will not make their behavior problems go away. In regards to the Dims, shining a light on them is the logical approach to highlighting their lack of obligation to their jobs, to their country.
