The larger risk is it turning into a commie-fest where they declare economic rights like Obama wanted. They will copy the Soviet constitution which sounds great on paper but in reality not so much. A targeted effort to force Congress to enact term limits is better. Perhaps by excempting existing members and only screwing the new guy. That is probably the only way.

Look into how we went from the Articles of Confederation to our current Constitution. The Articles of Confederation made no accommodation for such a change. But the group at the Convention did it anyway. Beware that once a Convention is convened, the delegates can (and likely will) toss the rules and do what they want anyway. And don't think the lefties would hesitate to bribe or suborn enough delegates to get their way. _______________________ “The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. ^^ Regardless of any chicanery by the delegates, whatever amendments emerge from an Article Five Convention still need to be ratified by 75% of the States, so THIRTY-EIGHT State Legislatures. It's a steep bar for a reason! Put another way, THIRTEEN States can derail ANY amendment from being ratified. ____________________________________________________________ If Some is Good, and More is Better.....then Too Much, is Just Enough !! I would rather have the 17th amendment repealed. The senate would be a better representative of the states and senators would go back to working for the states instead of working for themselves. “We truly live in a wondrous age of stupid.” - 83v45magna "I think it's important that people understand free speech doesn't mean free from consequences societally or politically or culturally." -Pranjit Kalita, founder and CIO of Birkoa Capital Management

While that is what the rules say, I can see the radical left ramming stuff through and then with the gleeful assistance of the mainstream media call it legal as is. If enough politicians act as if it is so, it is so. A convention is a total wild card. With the number of citizens woefully ignorant, and the amount of foreign and domestic backing of the leftist agenda, I am not convinced there are enough freedom minded people who understand the wisdom of our founding documents. We don't need a total makeover. A small number of things need fixing, which Congress have intentionally ignored. Ballot box or cartridge box. A convention would, I expect, lead to the latter.

I am against the idea of having a Constitutional Convention. I think the probability of negative results is high, including my concerns about the "tweaking" of the 2nd Amendment.

I have high hopes we will see the SAVE Act passed at the last minute before midterms and millions of mostly married women (predominantly liberal voters) will find themselves unable to register to vote. Is there anyway Democrats will be able to stop it with a filibuster?

Uhhh, these are NOT mere rules...What I posted is what the U.S. Constitution says! That is how it works, Period. Any amendments on the extreme margins would be never be ratified anyway, so the best we can hope for would be amendments along the lines of: 1) Mandating Term Limits for both houses of Congress and other Federal Officials, Judges, etc. 2) Imposes fiscal restraints on the Federal gov't to address Debt, Balanced Budgeting, etc. 3) Further reinforcement the 10th Amendment by imposing limits on Federal power, jurisdiction(s), etc to address the seemingly unchecked expansion of scope of the Federal Gov't. https://conventionofstates.com...the-u-s-constitution ____________________________________________________________ If Some is Good, and More is Better.....then Too Much, is Just Enough !! “Washington Post journalists have begged the newspaper's billionaire owner Jeff Bezos to spare their jobs - while his wife Lauren Sanchez flaunted expensive couture outfits at Paris Fashion Week. Up to 300 Post staffers are set to be affected by job cuts as CEO Will Lewis transforms the paper and reverse millons of dollars in losses each year, Puck reported. The hashtag #SavethePost gained traction among the Post's current and former journalists this week as a result. It comes as Bezos joined his wife at the Christian Dior Haute Couture show in Paris on Monday. Sanchez cut a stylish figure in a pale blue skirt and matching jacket, complete with a lavish fur collar. Back in the United States, furious Post employees were demanding Bezos ditch plans for cuts. …” DailyMail article: https://mol.im/a/15502763 Serious about crackers.

I'm not saying you're factually wrong, I'm saying that the radicals and their accomplices in the media will try anything and everything, to include ignoring the Constitution, to implement their agenda. They'll go to radical activist judges to approve it, they'll have leftist state legislatures pass laws supporting the new Constitution. While technically it requires the 2/3rds ratification, imagine an Obiden-Bama administration with a Dem majority Congress acting as if the new Constitution is fully valid. If the Dems get one or two more Supremes, they'd declare it valid. If a large portion of the population believes it and/or supports it regardless, it could easily become the new normal.

It is such a leftwing/collectivist mindset to include mention of his wife's wardrobe, as if it is relevant. If Bezos were the Post's CEO/owner and derived his wealth and income solely from the paper, that comment might have merit. But since Bezos' immense wealth has zero to do with the Post, that comment is not just irrelevant, it is divisive rhetoric; the politics of envy. The Post employees are probably all, or almost all, leftwing skulls of mush with grossly inflated egos. They do not comprehend the fact that any good business owner is going to do what is necessary to make a company turn a profit, no matter how much wealth he has in other areas. I am sure they believe their work is so earthshakingly important that Bezos should simply operate as their Pez Dispenser for money and provide whatever funding is necessary to keep them all employed as they charge headlong into the evil Quixote-esque windmills of capitalist conservatism. . .

Presumably Lewis thinks that he can lay off “Up to 300” wapo staffers without unduly affecting operations. If so, there was a helluva lot of leftist deadwood on that paper. I think President Trump is having an effect on the MSM. Serious about crackers.
