The 747 has proven to be one of the most iconic examples of aircraft design in history. Perhaps only the B-52 can surpass its historical record. I would love to see the BUFF adopted as AF1, but... I admit to being a nostalgic fool when it comes to aircraft.

Unfortunately, the top candidates for the 747's successor are not American made.

I too. Sometime ANG Security Police, who were performing rear entry door security duties, were given tours of the aircraft after it had been serviced and the principal was not expected back. Came away with more than just M&Ms, but also with deck of playing cards with Presidential Seal, and cuff links/tie bar. Cool

Is it common practice to take things off AF1. Just curious if it’s an unwritten rule or something.

Some GOP senators and Trump allies have harsh reviews of his agreement to end the Iran war
Republican leaders questioned the deal’s financial terms as the memorandum starts a 60-day deadline for a final nuclear agreement.

President Donald Trump’s newly signed, 14-point interim memorandum of understanding to end the conflict with Iran has provoked a rare and intense public backlash from powerful national security hawks within his own Republican Party.
Top Republican lawmakers, including Senators Bill Cassidy, Ted Cruz, and Roger Wicker, have openly rebuked the agreement, with Cassidy condemning it as "the worst foreign policy blunder in decades" and declaring that former President Ronald Reagan would be "rolling over in his grave."

Congressional Republicans are particularly incensed by a provision in the framework that commits the United States to working with regional partners to establish a massive $300 billion reconstruction and economic development fund for Iran, arguing it hands a financial lifeline to a state sponsor of terrorism.

Prominent conservative commentators and former administration officials, including Mark Levin, Ben Shapiro, and former Vice President Mike Pence, have also broken ranks with Trump to pan the deal, drawing unfavorable comparisons to Barack Obama's 2015 nuclear agreement and calling the new framework an act of "appeasement."

In response to the internal party rebellion, President Trump sharply lashed out at his right-wing critics on social media, labeling them "fools" who are "either jealous, bad people, or stupid," while defending the deal as a major victory that has already caused oil prices to tumble and the stock market to reach record highs.

The party most likely to fail in the face of victory.......

While I have no issues with some disagreement even dissent, STFU and do it in committee and out of SM, who the heck thinks that by releasing this type of response helps the cause.

They want a long, drawn-out war. They benefit financially and expose themselves as who they really are. Trump has had backstabbers since day one they lurk in the shadows and come out for minimal exposure and fade back into the dark.
To your face, they're on your team; behind your back, they're not.

All this reminds me of the Vietnam War.
A small fraction of the USA demonstrated and acted like fools against the War and the media went full support of those demonstrators to give an impression that all of the USA was against the War and against our own troops. This was FAR from the truth. I was born in 1951 so many of my friends were drafted, some went to Vietnam and some never came back.
I don't remember anyone I knew that was against the War, mostly because we all knew people that were fighting and had there lives turned upside down after getting drafted.
Back then the thought of these demonstrators sending a message to the North Vietnamese, China, and Russia that we were not behind our troops angered me and many others. I remember the Dem convention demonstrators here in Chicago and the ass whooping the CPD put on them, and the smile many Americans had that those "traitors" were getting the beat down they deserved.
I'm convinced that these demonstrators and the American media, prolonged the War by making it look like we were crumbling here at home.
How many more casualties did we suffer because of this BS.

Americans that protest our military actions while we have soldiers in battle should be dealt with a strong harsh hand!

Attack the government officials at the ballot box, but stand united when we have our own flesh and blood in harms way.

My father said if that occurred during WWII, they would have been attacked by a mob, who had sons, fathers, brothers over there fighting for their country. 34th Heavy Bomb Group 8th AAC. He was adamantly against NAM and saw it exactly as it turned out. There was no "Valor To Victory." No plans to ever win.

I was born in 1960, so my memories are from a different age than you. A friend's brother came back a hemi-plegic, paralyzed on his right side, do to being shot in the head. That really hit me hard. I remember more of the later protests just before the war ended than prior to 1969.

It seemed that people were opposed to a war that wasn't being fought to win. The reasons for being there were fading. (Though in hindsight the Domino Theory was logical at the time even though ultimately proven wrong). Johnson, a Democrat, and JFK were central to us being there, and then Nixon a Republican kept it going.

So it was an anti-war reason to protest, at least for a while. It wasn't party politics for a while in the sense of large scale organized funding and logistical support. I do remember complete hatred for Nixon at the end, and the war was an election issue in '68 and '72.

I think it was, to some extent, a genuine grass roots origin at first. Unlike today, where everything is maximum anti-Trump no matter what.

I really blame the media more than protestors. Media are actively undermining the country. Their complicity enables the radical forces to multiply their agenda. The professional agitators wouldn't be effective with an honest media.

Not uncommon in the 80's and 90's if you were on the AF Security Police detail. HW made several trips each summer to the Bush compound in Kennebunkport ME, - with AF1 secured at Pease AFB in Portsmouth NH.

Yes. Not much different than a business, they have branded swag that they expect people to take with them as souvenirs.

So vandalizing the pool shows that Trump is somehow wrong or bad? Or is it as close as they can get to physically attacking him, by attacking something he has directed be beautified?

In either case it is nonsensical while being an attack on the rest of us taxpayers who paid (happily) for the improvements and now will have to pay for repairs.
