“Donald Trump is trying to clear the criminal record of his longtime confidant Steven Bannon relating to the January 6 Capitol riot.

The Justice Department asked the Supreme Court and a federal judge on Monday to dismiss Bannon's criminal indictment and conviction for refusing to testify before the Democrat-led January 6 Committee.

A DOJ representative declared removing the charges against Bannon is in the 'interests of justice' after years of alleged political persecution under the prior administration. …”

Regrettably, I have acquaintances that I have the necessity \to associate with, who have both Trump Derangement Syndrome and are Liberal True Believers.

Since I have to talk to them from time to time, I would appreciate advice on how my fellow Forum members cope with similar situations. I do not think I am craven, but I abhor getting into loud debate, so I simply use avoidance.

We could be twins...I prefer avoidance for the same reasons. My older daughter and wife's sister are poster children for the people you describe, so I have a fair bit of practice.

When avoidance is impossible I state, politely but firmly, that I am NOT going to discuss whatever it is that triggered them. In extreme situations, I explain that I realize I'm not going to change their minds and they are CERTAINLY not going to change mine.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Exclusive – Secretary Lutnick: Post Office to Conduct Census in ‘Genius Move’ to Save Billions

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick spoke during a Breitbart News policy event about a “genius move” to hire the Post Office to conduct the next Census, highlighting that the Post Office already has the resources and employees to do the job.

Speaking to Breitbart News editor-in-chief Alex Marlow and Breitbart News economics editor John Carney, Lutnick pointed out that by hiring the Post Office to do the Census, he doesn’t “have to hire 500,000 people” or “teach them where everybody lives.”

“The job of the census is to go to everybody’s house, and count everybody, 340,000,000 people,” Lutnick said. “So, the census, we’d hire 500,000 people, we’d train them, rent them cars, give them gas, and they’d go out and try to find people. Which department of the United States of America already has 500,000 people, already has cars, and goes to everybody’s house every day? Oh, the Post Office!”

“So, here’s the genius move. We are hiring the Post Office to do the census. I don’t have to hire 500,000 people, I don’t have to teach them where everybody lives,” Lutnick added. “And, they know where everybody lives.”

Lutnick added that his “department has the money” to pay the Post Office to conduct the Census, adding that they would be “doing a test on April 1” of 500,000 people.

When Carney pointed out that “everybody knows their local postman, so they’re going to answer the door,” Lutnick agreed, questioning who would open “the door these days” for a random person.

“But, when the postman comes up, you’re like, I get it, you know, he wants to know how many people live here — and he knows, he’s just, I’m just confirming, you, your wife and your four kids still live here,” Lutnick said.

Exclusive — Secretary Lutnick on Jobs Numbers: Trump Powering ‘Greatest Growth United States Has Ever Seen’

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick at a Breitbart News policy event reacted to the stellar jobs numbers released on Wednesday, saying that President Donald Trump is powering the “greatest growth the United States has ever seen.”

Lutnick sat for an interview at the Breitbart News policy event in Washington, DC, as the Labor Department revealed the U.S. economy added 130,000 jobs in January, more than twice as many as expected, with the unemployment rate falling to 4.3 percent.

Breitbart News Economics Editor John Carney reported:

Economists had expected 55,000 jobs, although the range of forecasts was particularly wide, with some analysts predicting between zero jobs and 130,000. The unemployment rate was forecast to remain steady at 4.4 percent. The report was delayed a few days by the partial government shutdown.

The jobs growth came entirely from the private sector, which added 172,000 jobs. The federal government’s payrolls contracted by 34,000 while state and local government employment shrank by 8,000.

Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow joked that Breitbart’s favorite part of the economic data is that federal payrolls have dropped drastically.

“The president is driving growth in America. If you think about how you drive growth, you cut down your imports by tariffing them, you drive your exports by opening all of these foreign markets and driving their tariffs down. And, those two things, obviously drive growth,” Lutnick explained at the Breitbart News policy event.

“I think you’re going to get the greatest growth the United States has ever seen,” Lutnick remarked.

He said that he believes the first quarter of 2026 will experience six percent growth “for the greatest economy in the world.”

Lutnick compared America’s rocketing economy to the dismal economic growth of the United Kingdom and the European Union, which both experienced less than one percent growth. He added that Japan’s economy is shrinking.

“We are going to be who we are,” Lutnick continued. “If we’re the greatest economy in the world and the greatest country in the world, let’s grow like we’re the greatest economy in the world and the greatest country in the world. Let’s take care of Americans.”

House Passes Elections Bill Requiring Proof of Citizenship, Voter ID

Backed by the Trump administration and led by Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas), the SAVE America Act could face headwinds in the Senate.

WASHINGTON—The SAVE America Act passed the House on Feb. 11.

Led by Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas), the legislation would require Americans to prove their citizenship when registering to vote. Under the bill, Americans would also have to furnish photo identification when casting ballots, including mail-in ballots.

Its advancement sets up a potential conflict in the Senate, where Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) has opposed changing the filibuster or using the standing filibuster to overcome its 60-vote threshold—a major barrier to passage in the narrowly divided upper chamber.

The SAVE America Act passed the House 218 to 213 in a nearly party-line vote. A lone Democrat, Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas), voted in favor of the bill.

The final passage came several hours after a procedural vote on a rule to consider the SAVE America Act and several other pieces of legislation. That rule advanced by a narrow 216–215 vote, with Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) voting against it.

On X, Massie wrote that he opposed the rule despite supporting the SAVE America Act, citing language in the rule that would fast-track spending bills.

The House passed a weaker predecessor of the current bill, the SAVE Act, in April 2025. That measure then moved on to the Senate, which did not take up the legislation.
The House Rules Committee advanced an amended version of the bill on Feb. 10 that softened photo identification requirements, allowing voters to cast ballots with photo identification that would not verify the holder is a U.S. citizen—for example, driver’s licenses.

The amended bill also carved out an exception to the SAVE America Act for uniformed service voters. In addition, it included language requiring a process to allow American citizens who have changed their names to vote, and it ensured the legislation would take effect immediately if enacted.

Rep. Bryan Steil (R-Wis.), who was responsible for some changes to the legislation, stressed in remarks before the committee that the bill means “states will need to obtain documentary proof of U.S. citizenship when registering new individuals to vote in a federal election.”

The SAVE America Act has met with criticism from Democrats, including the Rules Committee’s ranking member, Rep. Jim McGovern (D-Mass.).

On the House floor ahead of the Feb. 11 rule vote, McGovern said it is “already illegal for noncitizens to vote in federal elections.”

“It’s about voter suppression,” McGovern said of Republicans’ push for voter ID and proof of citizenship to vote.

The Trump administration has signaled support for the SAVE America Act, writing on X that “American elections should be decided by American citizens ONLY.”

Yet, dynamics in the Senate could stymie the bill there, where support has been led by Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah).

Lee has rallied numerous Republican cosponsors, including Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), and Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.).

“We continue to add more every day, and hope to be at or above 50 by the end of this week,” Lee wrote on X on Feb. 10.

Although Republicans hold a 53-seat majority in the Senate, that is not enough to overcome the 60-vote filibuster threshold.

Some Republicans, including Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.), have called for their colleagues to use the “standing filibuster”—an approach based on the enforcement of the two-speech rule within a single legislative day, which can be extended indefinitely. Republicans would count on Democrats eventually yielding, enabling a simple-majority vote.

Earlier this month, Trump said he would support the tactic as a means of getting the SAVE America Act across the finish line.

Thune and two frequent swing voters, Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) and Paul, are among the Republican senators who have signaled concerns with such a strategy, which could exhaust the filibuster at the expense of floor time.

Voter ID - It's supported by the overwhelming majority of Americans of all flavors to include White, Latino, Black...Republicans AND Democrats! The ONLY group that opposes it are 'elected' Democrats, nearly every single one of them!

President Trump: All Governors except 2 are invited to the NGA dinner

WASHINGTON (TNND) — President Donald Trump clarified on Wednesday that governors from both parties are invited to the White House for the National Governors Association (NGA) conference, except for Democrats Wes Moore of Maryland and Jared Polis of Colorado.

"The RINO Governor of the Great State of Oklahoma, in which I won all 77 Counties, three times (The only person to do so!), incorrectly stated my position on the very exclusive Governors Annual Dinner and Meeting at the White House: “The White House intends to limit invitations to the annual business meeting, scheduled for February 20th, to Republican Governors only, That is false!" Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Trump explained that the invitations went to all governors, "other than two, who I feel are not worthy of being there."
He claimed Gov. Polis "unfairly incarcerated in solitary confinement a 73-year-old cancer-stricken woman for attempting to fight Democrat Voter Fraud" and called Gov. Moore "foul-mouthed" while accusing him of fraudulently stating he received military medals, doing a terrible job of rebuilding the Francis Scott Key Bridge and allowing Baltimore to continue to be a "crime disaster."

"I even invited the SLOB of a Governor, JB Pritzker, and horrendous California Governor, Gavin Newscum, to the Dinner, despite the terrible job that they are doing," Trump added. "So, as usual with him, Stitt got it WRONG! The Invitations were sent out to all other Governors, Democrat and Republican. I look forward to seeing the Republican Governors, and some of the Democrats Governors who were worthy of being invited, but most of whom won’t show up."

Moore said in a statement earlier this week that being excluded from the event carries added weight because he is the nation’s only Black governor -- whether or not that was the intent behind the decision.

"As the nation’s only Black governor, I can’t ignore that being singled out for exclusion from this bipartisan tradition carries an added weight — whether that was the intent or not," he wrote on X.

A spokesperson for Polis called it a "disappointing decision for a traditionally bipartisan event between Governors and whomever occupies the White House."
