I never wanted to do enough drywall finishing to get good at it but I've gotten pretty good at it. That and making Sourdough bread.

Flossing and brushing my teeth every nite before hitting the sack, and gargling in the morning.

No skill is acquired, but the mental discipline is valuable if you can extend it to other parts of the most boring but important aspects of daily life.

Cheesecake.

Also improving my Japanese cheesecake, which is more soufflé like.

The wife also says I make a good heater, but that wasn’t a learned skill.

LOL I've done enough that I *should* have gotten good at it, but didn't.

I have crazy dreams about once a month.

In them I have been to outer space, killed myself and watch the aftermath, had compound fractures, solved the Dirac equation to close a different dimension, depressurized aliens, travelled through time, referenced and returned to the same location of a dream I had years ago to meet the same characters, have even been both doctor and patient in the same insane asylum, crashed a space colony, fell off a cliff and hit bottom, etc...

I can see, smell, hear, read, taste, feel most all of the time, but have never left for work/school without my pants...

Cocktail sauce. No recipe; I just fiddle with it until it tastes right.

Untangling/repairing women’s necklaces. My wife only wears necklaces occasionally however I learned to untangle them. Then came granddaughters. In the past thirteen years I have repaired and untangled pesky necklaces more times than I can recall. Even in their twenties I occasionally get the task.

Mastering apexes, on 4 wheels and 2. But on 2, it’s harder and more gratifying. Hit the apex, still leaned over, and whack the throttle wide open (WFO) as soon as you feel there is enough contact patch. You’re half way between fully leaned over and full upright when you get it right. Roll the throttle to the stop and you feel like you’re being shot out of a gun or shot off a carrier in a F-18. Small thing in the grand scheme of life but might be my favorite thing in the world. Took so many days at the track and on rural country roads to master it. A lot of money, a lot of time, and a lot of practice and dedication for this small little thing. Mastering something dangerous and making it relatively safe.

Cooking on my ceramic grill (like the Green Egg only less expensive) using heat as the determining factor on when our meats are perfect. For so many years I tried to “guess” when the meat on the grill was done, and so many times I missed my mark.

For a number of years I was the voice of our local high school sports teams. Over our local radio station, I broadcast play-by-play in boys and girls basketball, boys football, invitational basketball playoff tournaments and even a donkey basketball game. While this had nothing to do with my day job, I loved it.

Cooking on stainless steel like it was teflon coated non-stick pans. I’m even able to do perfect eggs over easy on them. It’s all about heat management.

I'm in the unofficial Big Green Egg forum I see Smile I really can't cook much of anything outside the BGE and barbecue. The first time I ate a meal off of a BGE I fell in love with it, bought one went to a dozen Eggfests in the next 5 years and learned how to grill and smoke barbecue I added an offset smoker and am confident enough to host a barbecue for 50 people every summer. Many of the attendees say it's the best brisket that they have ever had, and not just once to be nice, they will not shut up about it and talk about it all year.
