This picture made it fairly clear that lil sis Kim Yo Jong is not going to be Rocket Man's successor. Not if she's being shown as her brother's valet, handing him the scissors for the ribbon cutting.

Amid Kim Jong Un's health rumors, experts ask: Is North Korea ready for a female leader?

Kim Yo Jong is North Korea's potential next leader. Description There is speculation, Kim Yo Jong, the younger sister of current North Korea president Kim Jong Un will take over the leadership role in the country. Kim Jong Un's is rumored to be very ill, which would put his younger sister on the path to becoming North Korea's ruler.

Amid the rampant rumors last month surrounding North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s health, speculation swirled if his little sister Kim Yo Jong would be the most likely successor.

While photographs shared by the Hermit Kingdom over the weekend showed its resurfaced leader, pivotal questions over the succession line, and if the deeply patriarchal dynasty is ready for a female leader, remain at the forefront of foreign political news.

Kim Yo Jong cuts an intriguing figure as the North’s demure diplomat who is fast becoming the Hermit Kingdom’s second-most-powerful person.

"Kim Jong Un's sister has been establishing herself publicly as a part of the senior leadership in recent years,” Matthew Schmidt, a professor of national security and political science at the University of New Haven, told Fox News. “In particular, she's emerged as her brother's keeper, so she's seen by military leaders as a competitor for succession. They're not dismissing her.”

He continued: “But a female leader is harder to imagine than a male one. But she has the capacity to compete for power if she wants to. What we don't know is whether she wants to fight for the job if she wants it.”

Indeed, Kim Yo Jong, who is believed to be 32, comes with increasing political prowess.

According to Harry Kazianis, senior director for Korean Studies at the Center for the National Interest, she "is the only person who could lead North Korea and continue on the regime as we know it today."

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

As of May 24th, the ny times reported he's going to increase n. korea's "military strength". That's the latest report I've seen online.

His sister just recently threatened S. Korea with military action. Two peas in a pod...

I have a feeling that Lil sis's appearance has something to do with raising her profile and testing internal and external reaction to her new found prominence.
If she does find herself in the drivers seat, I think she could make big brother seem like a pussy cat by comparison. She will want to make herself accepted by all as a very strong and ruthless leader and by Nork standards, that's a hard act to follow.
Expect a lot of over the top displays.
Second tier government and military folks should be worried in that case, as they are always disposable stage props to get the message out clearly.
On a different but related subject, I wonder what the life expectancy of an actual COVID patient would be there where they claim to have none?

A building located in "neutral" territory, maybe DMZ??, where the Norks and Souks have been holding some kind of talks.

Meeting building, refurb to usable condition paid for by the South Koreans but located just onto Nork property. Meaning they paid nothing and the south will probably get stuck with the bill if it's rebuilt again.
Those cartoon characters sure know how to play other countries for a sucker.
This was just another propaganda show and they only had to supply the explosives.

South Korea will have to go to Code Red one week per month.

It's time to arm the entire general populace with Russian and Chinese made AKs and "encourage" them to revolt against that regime. Start a civil war there and let the ruling class fend for themselves. But then again they will probably get refuge in China where those commie bastards will protect them.

That may, or may not work. The current dynasty has spent 75 years convincing the population that it is them against the U.S., and the world in general. The control the Kims have over the people is not merely based in fear, they have been true believers. That is probably slipping as modern electronics have made it harder to isolate the people, but it is a long way from a given that the people would revolt if they had the means.

Just for example, the North Korean people genuinely believe that the U.S., though our puppets in South Korea, attacked them first in the Korean war. They honestly think they were the victims, not the country that did the invading.

And one it did start, we did bomb the everloving shit out of the North, reduced much of their cities to rubble and destroyed a lot of their industry and infrastructure. So they think we are demons. (Not to say we shouldn't have done that, but the government's propaganda has used it to paint us as demons for the last 75 years.)

I agree with jhe888. Most of those who manage to escape the Norks are surprised that the US isn't what they have been told their whole lives. The children are indoctrinated beginning at the earliest age that S. Korea and the US are evil monsters looking to impose horrific destruction on innocent Norks. I believe if we were to arm the public they'd turn those weapons on us.
