Savor the limelight
| Secondary wing feathers from the right wing of an adult Bald Eagle. Close ups of the top and underside of the shafts would be helpful. |

| Turkey vulture. Grey underside and black top surface |

Eye on the Silver Lining
| Don’t forget that a lot of immature birds are molting into the adult plumage about now and those immature feathers will be drab, therefore might be misleading when it comes to id.

Savor the limelight
| While that’s true, what immature bird in America would have 10” long secondary feathers? Bald Eagles go from fairly consistent color to really mottled to what we think of as Bald Eagles as adults. Here’s a one year old Bald Eagle in front of our house: I believe hawks is correct; turkey vulture because of the light colored underside. |
