FLYING HIGH: "Jetman" soars over the Italian Alps in jet pack with carbon fiber wings, capable of reaching speeds of up to 250mph.

Yeah.... I want one! Who doesn't want to fly?
But I think I'll wait until the kinks are worked out. Big Grin

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Isn't it hard to breathe flying at 250mph in the open air?

I would have definitely done that at the age of 22 or so...but I was in great shape then, and I hadn't had six kids (& Type 1 Diabetes) at that time... Now, at 58+, not so much. Frown

Hmm. Range? And would the FAA require me to file a flight plan or could I just take off from home?

Fly in VMC (Visual Meteorological Conditions) and remain clear of Class A airspace, no flight plan required. Transponder required for Class B and Class C airspace. Radio communication required for Class B, Class C, and Class D.

Remain in Class E or Class G airspace and neither flight plan, transponder, nor radio communication required.
Above is "quick and dirty" summary, there are a lot of details, refer to FAR Part 91, available for your reading / download pleasure on the faa.gov website. All of the preceding based on meeting pilot and aircraft qualifications for however this "aircraft" is classified. If it's regarded by the FAA as an UltraLight, pilot and aircraft cetification requirements border on non-existant.

You see in my mind I makes this kick ass landing in my work parking lot in the morning. I throw off my helmet, the Top Gun instrumental is playing....its bad ass.

The reality is more likely I auger into the ground making a bloody hole, to the sound of fire engines and panicked screams sending several people into therapy for years to come.

I have a great imagination.......but I am a realist. Smile
