The one thing Trump said about his VP pick was that they would need to be capable of being President on day one. That means executive experience running large organizations, possibly states, or enough experience in Washington to navigate the swamp. Katie Britt has none of those things. Sure she could be Trump’s pick, but I think the odds are about as good as a horse named “Glue factory” winning the triple crown.

I didn’t care much for her delivery, but I also have spent two decades coaching people in public speaking. Her message was on point, but her inexperience came across in so much of her body language. There were tells when she was trying too hard and parts of her voice inflection seemed super rehearsed and not natural. The use of “y’all” is an absolute no go when trying to appeal to all regions of the country. More often than not, voice inflections and body language go unnoticed except to a person’s subliminal mind. Evidence of that can be seen throughout this thread with people not quite capable of putting their finger on exactly what made people not particularly care for the delivery. I admit most people might not recognize some of the things I do, but this stuff matters. I have no doubt that Katie Britt has a bright future ahead of her, but she’s not ready for the big show right now.

Most will say she is too polarizing but my longshot pick for vp is MTG simply because she is a fighter who would be feared if something were to happen to President Trump.

Well, my crystal says it's not going to be Nikki, despite talk going around by some pundits parroting each other that she could be in the running.

Naming Britt as a possible candidate for 2nd in command, using this logic, there are hundreds who could be considered a VP choice for VP. To think she would be a real world possibility is fantasy.

She is a junior senator, perhaps the youngest, and has no history with Trump, not part of his inner circle. The number one criteria for Trump's choice will be loyalty; he learned a painful lesson with Pence, and you can bet his future choice will be a trusted person in the MAGA universe. He is already using this strategy at the RNC.

Personally, I think MTG would be an AWESOME pick for VP! Much like Trump, she says what she thinks and doesn't hold back. She is a fighter, and I happen to like her very much! Regarding Katie Britt, she needs to stay right where she is. As much as I like her overall, she is NOT VP material, and likely never will be; she is a "southern sweetheart" and hopefully that never changes!

Having Katie in the kitchen was beyond stupid. Appealing to 1950s housewives but not the women of the day.

As an Alabama resident I can tell you Katie Britt is NOT ready for prime time level of VP.

She was propped up by cocaine Mitch to get through her primary to get her past Mo Brooks and Michael Durant (of Black hawk down fame). McConnell dumped a ton of money into her campaign and a PAC for tons of advertising in 2022.

Our run-off choice in 2022 was between Brooks, a founding member of the Freedom Caucus, and Britt, someone who would be indebted to McConnell. It was a LOT of advertising money that got her where she is. She's not bad as R's go, she's just not all that good.

I agree. Even though she is in her early 40's, she seems very, very young, and I am not talking about her looks. She seems almost fresh out of college, untested. The upside is that she is smart and she has a lot of energy. She can grow into her role.

As you probably remember, she was senator Richard Shelby's chief of staff for years, that's how she came into play politically, to replace him. Initially Trump endorsed Brooks until she won the run-off...

I know. And that makes her hand-picked, not a true choice of the people, and a part of the machine. I see that as a double-edged sword; possibly giving her more power than other freshman senators, but also possibly making her more likely to continue business as usual.

MTG would be an awesome VP. I would love it.
But, not likely as MTG probably wouldn't draw in the "soccer moms".

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

I see Ted Cruz as a highly capable President-in-waiting, as well as Ron DeSantis, unfortunately they both lack the charisma to campaign at the national level against a media machine largely against them.

Vivek Ramaswamy is extraordinarily smart and impressed me early on, but some of his latter comments made me lose confidence in him as a President. I do see him as capable in developing great policy, but can he withstand the leftist media mudslinging well enough to implement it?

Trump needs a two-in-one VP. He needs a campaign VP that will appeal to the conservative, middle of the road and independent soccer moms that are turned off by his demeanor, and I think that almost has to be a woman. And he needs a VP that can continue to carry his policies forward in 2029.

Who is this 2-in-1? Kristi Noem? Winsome Earle-Sears?

Who???

soccer moms

I think this narrative is old, outdated. "Soccer Moms"- white middle class suburban women- are now heavily partisan, since the Clinton years. The so-called "independents" today are people who usually do not vote in primaries and midterms, are not political junkies, do not watch Fox or CNN. Blacks, hispanics fit this. Most of these folks could not name the current vice-president, a single Supreme Court justice, or Speaker of the House, they don't give a shit, much of America is like this. But they know "Trump". And for him to go "moderate" would be a colossal mistake, and something he is too smart to do anyways.

And putting much emphasis on a VP choice to decide votes does not apply to Trump. Many people who voted for Trump in 2016 and 2020 had no idea who or what Michael Pence was. This late into the game, most people know who they will choose, there are very few fence-sitters in 2024. The border invaders and the economy are the only two issues that matter, everything else is strictly partisan. And choosing a moderate woman is not going to change minds that are already made up.

As an Alabamian, although I did not vote for her, I was proud to see Katie get the opportunity for the SOTU rebuttal. Her messaging to her audience was spot on. Her delivery was awful. That being said, there is no way and no chance that she is on the national ticket as VP. Absolutely no way.

IMO, it'll be Tulsi Gabbard and it should be.

Agreed. Not a snowball's chance.

No, it won't be and no, it shouldn't be. If he chooses a liberal (and she is), he'll lose miserably. I hope to God that he doesn't choose a woman.

I'd put money on Ben Carson although I'd be concerned that it would be looked at as pandering.

She's a Democrat who also voted to impeach Donald Trump if you’ve forgotten. No, it won't be her, nor should it be in a million years.

As far as Katie Britt, I finally sat and watched a bit of her rebuttal today. Hmmm, yeah, I guess I take back what I said. I do believe she was on Trump's radar for VP, but after that SOTU rebuttal, I'd say not anymore.
