I saw an article about a week ago talking about this possible connection, wasn’t a lot of data but there was some links. This terrifies me I have had tinnitus a long time and on occasion it is very disruptive and is so intrusive I cannot function at work.

Shooting guns my whole life and having amped subs and speakers in my cars gave me tinnitus. I've dealt with it for years and the older I get, the worse it is. Moving to Puerto Rico really cranked it up. Puerto Rican music hits a lot of loud midrange which was the only range I left relatively untouched when compared to bass and higher frequencies. If I don't have white noise it's hard to sleep or concentrate.

It does affect me in conversation. I have to piece a lot of what someone is saying to me by context. I can't always repeat exactly what someone said because I don't hear exactly everything that they say. I had lunch with a lawyer last week and he was so soft spoken, between the background noise of the restaurant and my tinnitus I was lucky if I got 70% of the conversation.

I try to carry earplugs with me wherever I go. I saw John Wick 4 in the theaters and was so grateful to have them. My GF had to plug her ears because she felt it was too loud at times.

I've also noticed that my dog hasn't done me any favors. He is very quiet when it's just me but ever since I started dating my GF he has to bark at us whenever we touch, laugh out loud, etc. I would never get rid of him but it's tough to balance my hearing with interacting with my GF.

I'm a ways off from having dementia or Alzheimers but it does give me concern for what my future holds.

Just because something is legal to do doesn't mean it is the smart thing to do.

I got rejected from the draft in 1971 due to "high frequency hearing loss".
I have had ringing (Tinnitus) since I was a kid. I also have tried hearing aids but didn't do any good.
So far, at almost 72, nobody has accused me of dementia yet.

About nine years ago I woke up one morning and immediately noticed a loud noise, mostly in my left ear, that sounded like wires from electrical lines when they make that noise. It pulses. It's extremely annoying. I've been told there is no cure.

Yesterday I went to the audiologist to talk about hearing aids because of moderate to severe hearing loss. The cheapest ones were $3100 but my insurance would pay for $2400 of it. I'm probably going to go with those. I did notice when I tried on the hearing aids that my tinnitus subsided a little bit so maybe the hearing aids will help that.

My understanding is that hearing loss can lead to decreased brain function that can lead to dementia or Alzheimer's. My PB scores were 100% in my right ear and 96% in my left ear so no worries in that regard.

The problem is caused by calcium in your arteries/veins. To prevent it, you need to take vitamin k2 or 180 mg of mk-7. You can also eat foods containing mk-7 such as sauerkraut.

I am a bit medical savvy but certainly no expert here but I did a lot of research when my dad was diagnosed with dementia. My uncle was similarly diagnosed about 2 years after him, they both had very similar progressions until their deaths over the last 3 years.
Both had the following growing up, lots of football and wrestling, western PA, their dad played for the Steelers. They both ended up enlisting and going OTC during the Vietnam era.
My dad was in tanks and my uncle was a green beret who did 3 tours.
I think there is a high rate of dementia in folks with hearing loss and by that nature tinnitus due to artillery fire and tank fire and concussions.

Those folks tend to get tinnitus at a high rate, but it is the concussions that leads to dementia and Alzheimers more than the hearing loss.

I don't have much to back that up other than logic and the overwhelming evidence that repeated concussions leads to dementia. I haven't seen much evidence that tinnitus itself leads to those brain disorders.

Prayers for good health to you all

I have had tinnitus since the early 20's or for 60 years. No dementia or Alzheimer's so far. Smile

I think concussions could lead to dementia and Alzheimer's. Taking omega-3 supplements would greatly nourish the brain.

This is what I use:
