https://i.postimg.cc/0Nd2SgR3/8445-13453-13.jpg I just won (auction) this 2013 Chevrolet Caprice. Related to the Pontiac G8 and Chevrolet SS. Car is from Australia's GM Holden division. The car was only available to government agencies and not offered to the general public. A few people (claim) were able to acquire them new somehow It will be my daily driver.

I bought a real small bus on there once and did pretty well flipping it. _____________________ Be careful what you tolerate. You are teaching people how to treat you.

It was a former Washington State Patrol police car. I don't believe it will be a problem.

Yep. A neighboring S.O. bought a bunch and unloaded them the next year and went back to Dodge and Ford. No 4WD/AWD, a center shifter taking up room for equipment, and small interior room doomed them from the start. Nothing wrong with them for normal use though. Quick and nice handling, especially as they are RWD.

Congratulations Looks Good I have looked through some of those gov auction sites previously None of the pick up or viewing locations were close enough for me to make it worth while taking a chance. There are those, who learn how to work through the system and can get some very good deals. I had a buddy who bid and won on various gov auction sites, he would buy pallets of ammo cans and other items to sell at military swap meets. I did a ride along once when he went to pick up a bid he won, it was pretty amazing the pallets of stuff that were there waiting for pick up. RC

Agreed, that will be a fun car to drive. Fast as heck, too fast. Horrible patrol car, though. The current generation of Ford Explorers are hands-down the best patrol vehicle I have ever used. And nearly as fast as the Caprice, which is stoooopid fast. I hope you enjoy it. I drove a new one for a bit and thought to myself that I wouldn't mind having one for my own. Knowing what one is talking about is widely admired but not strictly required here. Although sometimes distracting, there is often a certain entertainment value to this easy standard. -JALLEN "All I need is a WAR ON DRUGS reference and I got myself a police thread BINGO." -jljones

Never count on it not being a problem. I was involved in some changes here in Missouri as it pertains to military vehicles. The government does not have to follow the same rules you an I must. Just because the government can drive it on the road doesn't mean your state will automatically be OK with it. Things like emissions and crash testing rank high on the "concern" list of states. May not be an issue, but it might. And if it is, don't be afraid to fight them on it. Sometimes you need to run any issues that arise up the flag pole to somebody with more authority.

A call to his insurance agent with the VIN will be a good clue. _____________________ Be careful what you tolerate. You are teaching people how to treat you.

A call to the DMV or a trip to a state inspection station would be a better clue. You can insure anything. Your insurance company doesn’t care. That’s where any potential problem starts. When you go to license it the VIN tells their computer what it is.....assuming it’s in there. When it’s not in there (and it very well may not be seeing it wasn’t available for sale in the US) t huh acts where things go sideways. Won’t know until you get to that point.

Are you looking for a cheap V8? Or something more long term investment? if the later I’d imagine the Pontiac GTO 6.0 would be nicer and fewer miles. Even the recent Chevy Impala SS. P229

Cut and plug |
The time to get a good deal on a GTO is long gone as are the reasonably priced G8 GT’s. As far as the SS goes, this is basically a long wheelbase SS. They are a steal for the price and have a heck of a lot of performance. In my opinion it’s absolutely the best bang for your buck performance wise. The later ones even have the USB ports for CarPlay hidden under the dash waiting to be connected. Nice car by the way. I’d love to have one. Get it tuned and really wake that 6.0 up.
