Took it a second time and answered three questions differently and still got 100%. Today everybody gets a trophy.

Piece of cake. I spent four years on contract as a software developer for BellSouth in the Birmingham area, so I learned to read, write, and speak fluent Alabaman.

I also had the Red, White, and Blue(grass) rooming with me in my house, before they started to earn enough from their music, to live on. They were all from Alabama, and while Ginger was understandable, the guys spoke hard-core Alabaman when they were off stage. I learned by osmosis.

I got the treasured "100%"; My own speech was influenced by my Grandmother's phrases. The closest she came to Appalachia was being born & raised in Utah Territory.

ETA: And HER speech patterns were all well formed in several decades prior to 1900.

I think it's a bogus/erroneous label on the 'test'.

I got 100% on my first round.

I took it again and answered every question wrong just to see what would happen.

It told me I have some work to do on being a Hillbilly Razz

Those are more Southern, or, are at least equally Southern as Appalachian.

Exactly, jhe888, more Southern than Appalachian, I think.

Most of the terms are just the way I talk and always have talked-"fixin' to" and "reckon," for example are simply common words in daily usage around my house.

We had a Yankee friend from New York who was kinda surprised and confused by reckon and fixin' to, but he learned. Sadly, then he died.

I got 100% on that quiz, but it's because I'm more aware of the terms than actually using them. All the time spent watching Andy Griffith and the Beverly Hillbillies, you're bound to pick up something.

OK, I'll actually say it. I think the quiz is rigged to give everyone 100% even if they don't get any answers right. I don't know why that is the case, but I think it is.

ETA: Well, maybe not. I just retook the test and answered every question wrong (yes, I'm sure they were wrong answers). I got this result:

You Could Have Done Better! You have what it takes to be labeled as a true Southerner! You might just need to sit back, grab a coke, and brush up on your Southern lingo. Go ahead and take the quiz again!
