If her
Apple Watch doesn't appear to be
pairing with her iPhone anymore first try powering them both down, power-up the phone, unlock it, power-up the watch, and unlock it.
If that doesn't do it then she may have no recourse other than to remove the Apple Watch pairing from her iPhone, reset the watch to factory defaults (clearing it), and re-pair it with the phone.

Probably not.

Not even faintly close to the same thing. The Apple Watch is a wrist computer and communications device that includes telling time as but one of its many capabilities. A G-Shock watch is... a watch.
TBH: If I wasn't wearing my Apple Watch it's possible I'd wear nothing on my wrist at all. I've little use for a plain wristwatch.

V-TailI updated Watch to the current version of OS. After the dust settled, an orange dot appeared at the top center. Nothing I tried would make it go away.
I went about my busy schedule of having a day off, looked at the Watch, and the orange dot had disappeared as mysteriously as it had previously appeared.
Any idea what this is? Blue dot is locked watch, red dot is notifications on queue, what is orange dot?

nhracecraftIt means you probably should've waited a while longer before updating...

kkina^Acc. to Apple, the orange dot means that an app has accessed your microphone. It's a security/privacy feature, so you know when the guvmint is monitoring your every digital move.

mcrimmThe update screwed up all of my icon groups. That’s all so far.

Sr_Bull 17.0.1Made it 3 days. 3 whole days. And there’s already a 17.0.1 update. Guess beta testing isn’t what it used to be.

Mental health assessments. Take mental
health assessments often used in clinics to
understand your current risk for depression and
anxiety and if you might benefit from getting
support. You can download a PDF to share with
your doctor and compare your results over time. What a steaming load of horse shit.
"Apple: For the unstable generation. Mommy loves you." Get a fucking grip.
iOS 16.6.1, the current iOS 16 version, is 1.91 GB. iOS 17 is 3.83 GB – TWICE the size. So about 2GB of my iPhone storage is wasted for shit like mental health assessment, additional emojis, etc. Emojis? Did they ever hear of the “alphabet” thing? 26 characters that can express nearly any concept.
I guess Apple has to find something for their diversity hires to do.

Sounds like you are referring to the GB you download for an over-the-air update. I always do my upgrades from the IPSW file, which contains the full OS:
IPSW for 16.6.1:
6.85GB
IPSW for 17.0
7.87GB
Yes, it is more, but not as drastic as the OTA update makes it seem. I am with you 100% on emojis and some other added features.

Yeah, they recently announced updates for "older" versions of iOS/iPadOS due to Yet Another Zero-Day Vulnerability
Time to update
again. *sigh*...

Pipe SmokerApple releases an urgent iOS update
“Merely days after the release of its new operating system – iOS 17 – Apple has had to issue urgent updates.
iOS 17.0.1, now available globally, fixes three security flaws that left devices exposed to 'malware' – malicious computer software. …”
DailyMail article:
https://mol.im/a/12557583I’m sticking with iOS 16.7.

kkinaBeen running 17.0.1 several days now. No issues thus far.
September 26, 2023, 05:26 PM
kkinaYou guessed it:
17.0.2Maybe it would be simpler to announce when iOS is
not being updated?
September 26, 2023, 05:33 PM
nhracecraftI'd hold out for 17.1.0...

Personally, I'm still rocking iOS 12.5.5...It worked then AND it still works now!

There is always a rash of updates after release, then it settles down into the “occasional” updates.
Could be worse, like the planned, long term, weekly updates Windoze does
