If worried about destruction by falling tree, run a rope under tension in the direction of the intended fall line.

Cut from the back side of that line, meaning that if you want the tree to fall at 6 o'clock, cut from 12. If you had a chainsaw, notching and back cutting would make this happen. With your manual saw, a rope with tension goes a long way. Nothing to it but to do it.

is is hilariously timely. Just last night I was at the Iowa state fair and watched a chain saw carver, carving an eagle.

Man you can’t live where I do without owning at least three different chainsaws… Trees are freaking weeds here. Currently waiting for January to drop about 20+ of them.

Lots of spare chains and gobs of chain oil. Chaps (non assless variety)and hardhat are mandatory.
