Bump Stock - never heard of them until now
They appear to be sold out everywhere, too. I’ve been checking.

Zero interest in bump fire.
Most uncontrollable FA gun I have ever shot:
M14.
Most controllable:
BAR.
It is the weight difference and rate of fire, I would guess.

I only want a FA gun because govt. does not want me to have it. If they'd just let me be free, I doubt there would be any appeal. Gimmicky work-arounds do not interest me as I still cannot be completely free as a law abiding citizen who doesn't have 35,000 to waste on a 900.00 gun.

It occurs to me that FA in a TEOTWAWKI scenario, the last think you'd want to do with a finite commodity like ammo is mag dumps. Better to conserve ammo and have a tribe on your side.....you know, to put down the zombies. Big Grin

years ago I had an Atkins Accelerator

I modified my Ruger 10-22 and it worked like a charm

after I bought and installed it the ATF decided they didn't like them (after previously ruling they were just fine)

apparently the ATF had a 'Chief of Technology' - more like an asshole - and he threatened about 1000 of us who owned the Accelerators with a $250,000 fine and 10 years in prison if we didn't send the ATF the two springs and a document that swore we would not replace the springs and use the device

that was the day I decided that my attitude towards the ATF changed - that they weren't worth a pinch of coonshit. You cannot believe them when they say something, and if they put it in writing they will change their mind and make you a criminal

the gun would fire one round for each trigger pull

now (as they were then) they're full of shit

I don't see anything wrong with them

They're for sale on Gunbroker of course. This seller currently has 419 available for only $399.99 each : http://www.gunbroker.com/item/704431972

More panicked bidding has run this one up to $655 : http://www.gunbroker.com/item/704156214

Were any of the firearms used actually modified for full auto fire?

These stocks are a toy that might offer a bit of amusment with friends at an outdoor gun range. That's about it.

That company is now enjoying record sales, but it's going to be rough seas for them in the not too distant future. The stupid antis have something on which they can focus. Any attempts at legislation (which will fail) will explicitly mention these stocks.

ATF made no mention of fully automatic firearms in this video, presented mostly for the purpose of a reference: (skip to 6:30 for ATF)

Just watched a couple of videos about them and all I can say is how does the ATF allow these...

I'm not saying they should be illegal just surprised....

So, what are you saying? You statements contradict each other.

And, also for the record, I don't care for these bumpfire devices, or even real full autos, either.

I was surprised that a .gov agency would allow it given the attitude of most in the government against the freedom that we as US citizens want to enjoy.

I had the opportunity to fire a full auto in one of the courses that I have taken (M240B) and agree that accuracy over fire rate is the preferred method. But it was fun...

Even hooking your thumb isn't necessary. It's all in how you hold it. I found I could easily bump an RPK with a drum, no gimmicks necessary. It was fun but rather pointless other than to make a lot of noise. (and for safety reasons we only did this down in a quarry where we used to shoot)

Absolutely, the libs are NEVER satisfied.

Remember when Dylan Roof shot nine people at the church in Charleston? Right after that SC removed some Confederate flags or symbols. Now look at all the statues that have come down...

It's always "a good first step" without any admission of what everyone knows is the ultimate step.

I'll tell you what Diane: We'll give you your stupid victory on banning bump fire devices in exchange for no additional anti-gun legislation of any kind to be introduced in Congress for 25 years. How's that?

Wednesday on MSNBC, Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) said he had “significant” receptiveness during conversations with his Republican colleagues on legislation to ban gun modifications that convert semi-automatic guns into an automatics, such as a bump-stock reportedly used by the Las Vegas shooter.

Blumenthal said, “I am not only supporting it, I have joined in legislation with Senator Feinstein, and I announced just literally moments ago, that would ban bump stocks. These are the carnage force multipliers. The firing mechanism that harnesses recoil energy and makes it possible to convert a semi-automatic into automatics. Yes, we should ban them, and I think it’s a point of common ground where we can come together in addition to others.”

When asked if he has spoken to Republican Blumenthal added, “Yes informal discussions with some of my colleagues not only about this but also background checks and a ban on assault weapons, the high capacity magazines. All of those kinds of weapons and devices accelerated and enhanced the ability of that shooter in Las Vegas to kill so many people. Yes, I have talked to my colleagues, and I think on this point of the bump-stock There is receptiveness that I think is very, very significant.”

I am going to guess that they were passed over by the ATF because...

It doesn't alter the action of the weapon

A single pull of the trigger is still required for each round fired

It is a novelty item mostly just for shits and giggles

It was probably not projected that someone would actually use one of these in the manner applied in Vegas.

Has that idiot Blumenthal considered banning large rental trucks yet? Cause after all, they are a bigger "carnage force multiplier," right? I mean, one in Paris killed over 80 people and injured north of 450. Certainly that makes it a much deadlier weapon than some silly gimmick like a bump stock. It also killed and injured that many people in a lot less time than 10 minutes.

Nothing but a bunch of phonies the lot of them.
