Short answer- At what point are you in fear for your life and / or the lives of your family?

Bad guys are armed, coming through the door or window, or already have made their way into your home? It's "Game On!" No one is going to question that.

You have live feed video of bad guys armed, outside your door, and they are determined to get in your house and cause serious harm to you and yours?
I'm confident in saying a Jury, States/District attorney, officers, judges will understand your fear.

Large acreage property, and bad guys are at the fence 100+ yards away and you start with the sniper shots? That one isn't going to fly too well. There's still some options left. You put a few warning shots across their bow, and they keep coming, visible armed? That changes the situation. The bad guys shoot at you first? Changing the situation even more.

There's a lot of variables. The bad thing is- you have fractions of a second to figure things out. Those fractions of a second will be questioned, twisted, "what-if'ed", and judged for a long time afterwards.

It all comes down to "reasonable".
When would a normal, rationally thinking individual REASONABLY BELIEVE that they, or their family is about to receive great bodily harm or death.

Yes, "reasonable." What struck me in this video was the numbers, seven! Eek

Armed or not, that changes the equation. If it is one or 2, it seems reasonable to call police and barricade covering the door. If they break it in, engage.

But once the numbers start going up, you can shoot 1 to 2 coming through the door but then be overwhelmed. I'd be tempted to engage them through the door in this instance given the camera is there for positive ID of the threat.

Sure, add a charge for impersonating police during home invasion robbery, contingent on it not being plea deal' away (mandatory prosecution). One per perpetrator is added to the list of charges against each of the criminals involved. So if there are four home invasion robbers, each get four counts.

The penalty if found guilty is either death or Bunga Bunga, prisoners choice.
