Any Impreza owners? Thinking about dumping the Mini & found one locally that looks to be fairly priced & under book value. It's a 5 spd which is another plus. It's the 2.0 engine with the 5 spd manual. Just over 100k on it. I've driven a few Impreza/Crosstrek as rentals & they were all CVTs, but otherwise liked how they drove. Anything major to check on these, or things to keep in mind, especially around the 100k mark? The Enemy's gate is down.

Pretty solid cars from what I've seen. What year? I'd think if it has the original clutch it's about due. No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

It's a 2021, so high-ish miles for the age Car is across town, so probably an hour from my office with decent traffic. Might go look at it tomorrow or Saturday morning, if they still have it. The Enemy's gate is down.

In Texas? I’d rather have a Mini. In Alaska? Only vehicle: Subie. Second vehicle: Mini (with a Grand Cherokee as the other). Oh wait, that’s what we have. ETA: looking at a lift for the Mini. Her choice.

If the Mini didn't seem to be riddled with 'fix 1 problem to find the next', I'd agree. Love how the car drives, and wish it was a manual. Luckily I don't have too much $ sunk into it. It was a free car & had some issues when I got it. Seems like every time I fix 1 problem, the next one is uncovered. Doesn't help that it sat for about a year before I got it, and had a leaking back window, so it killed the radio Harmon Kardon amp [$1k replacement] and the footwell module [fixed]. Oh, and it has a small amount of oil consumption as well. I have an about to be 14 year old, that will need to start learning to drive soon, so the Impreza could make for a good first car for her. Being a manual should help keep the phone out of her hands, too. The Enemy's gate is down.

Mini had 6 speeds up until 2025, so sayeth the internet. For instance, 77001, All4, manual, 2011-25. Stupid CarGurus will make you apply those filters; sorry. Anyway, 15 choices within 50 miles. Or there is a Gallardo Spyder AWD for $90k.

Solid car for sure. Spark plug changes aren't so much fun but not unbearable. Does it have a touch screen info-tainment system. Subaru has had some issues with those and are a pricey repair.

Correct, 6AT & 6MT in the Mini, not sure I'd have another after this one. Love the go kart handling. The Enemy's gate is down.

It does have the Starlink touch screen system. The Enemy's gate is down.

It would be worth researching your year and model. I have a 2015 Legacy with a touch screen. It has been bullet proof. We just bought a 2023 Legacy for my wife with 10-11" touch screen. It is still under warranty but on a trip to KC MO the right side speakers front and back went out. A new screen is required. It is under warranty but damn that would be a big time repair and makes me a bit nervous. The new models have eliminated many mechanical switches with the touch screen As mentioned above, do you need AWD in Texas? In Utah it comes in handy about six times per year for commute, but when you need it you need it. I've also found it nice in heavy rain. AWD handles hitting a puddle of standing water very well.

Need AWD? No. It was just a nice car that fit what we'd want to spend & would make for a good commuter & possible first car for my daughter. On the touch screen, it doesn't have the huge tablet like the Outback has. My parents have an Onyx with the huge screen. A bit too big for me. The Enemy's gate is down.

My daughter and son-in-law have an Impreza, but I haven’t seen it yet in person. However, I’ve sat in them at Subaru dealers while awaiting service on my Subarus over the years. My take on them is that they are a fine vehicle for many. I could live with one if only it wasn’t so low to the ground. Getting in/out for my wife and me isn’t preferable. The Crosstrek, being a little higher, was the way to go for us, and now Foresters. Retired Texas Lawman

If I could find a manual Crosstrek in the same budget I'd agree. I think the Crosstrek looks a bit better & gets the 6MT where the Impreza has a 5MT The Enemy's gate is down.

I bought a new '15 Legacy 3.6R without the eyesight and it was a solid car for the four years I had it except for a weak battery and windshield. I bought my daughter a new 2020 Impreza base model with the CVT. She's up to 66k miles now. No issues with her touchscreen. Not sure about eyesight since she turns it off. We were doing 6mo/6k OCI under warranty. Now we've settled on 7.5k OCI or right before winter or summer. I did brakes all around at 60k just so she'd have fresh brakes. The rears were close to going. It did need a new battery and starter this spring. I'm probably going to get her a crosstrek next since they don't make the impreza sedan anymore and give the impreza to my youngest who is about ready to drive. Not minority enough!

Thanks for that, the Impreza I'm eyeing doesn't have Eyesight. Nice & simple, other than keeping up with the AWD. Given it has 100k, if we jump on it, I'd probably plan to do trans & diff fluids. The Enemy's gate is down.

My research says Eyesight doesn't play well with the manual and that was the driving force behind dropping the third pedal from the Crosstrek. We're still looking for an '18-20 MT Crosstrek. __________________________ Writing the next chapter that I've been looking forward to.

2 Crosstreks. 2017 and 2021. No issues. The 21 has the bigger 2.5 motor. Love them both. Impreza same car basically.

The higher miles per year may mean there is little wear on that clutch or on the engine/drivetrain as a whole if they were highway miles. ___________________________ "Opinions vary" -Dalton

Thanks for all the comments. Think I found the problem with my Mini, so this may be a bit moot now. That said, I've always liked the Impreza, so it could still be a contender [or a manual Crosstrek] down the road. The Enemy's gate is down.

100k on the ODO? I could find you a 2024 or 2025 Leaf with the 240 mile range (SV Plus) with 3-6k miles on it for $18-21k. The Boxer with that mileage, head gasket replacement coming. Subaru motors aren’t known for their longevity. If you don’t mind rebuilding it, then sure. But you also have an AWD system now that might need part replacement as well. What am I doing?
