I am in need of some 7" inseam cargo shorts. My current shorts are 9" Duluth Trading cargo shorts. I like the shorts and the "ballroom" however the length is too long, the 9" catches right at the top of my knee and hooks when I bend down. What does every one like for 7" shorts that are somewhat roomy in the gentlemanly area.

never measured them, but I have been wearing a Bass Pro/Cabelas cargo shorts for a few years,

they tend to change up the design every year or 2, and they do not last more than a year or 3, ( I am hard on clothes apparently)

at 5'7" they hit me in the knee or just above and are comfortable,

my manly bits are quite comfortable in them,

Perhaps consider REI Safari shorts. On sale now. Zipper cargo pocket which I like.

Most dry cleaners also do alterations. Have them shorten and re-hem the legs to whatever length you want.

I've gotten quite a lot of use out of 5.11 Cargo Pants so I'd assume their Cargo Shorts are good to go.

I have 5 pair of the lightweight ripstop and 2 of the standard heavier stuff. I have had them all for probably 14 years, they wear like iron. They are completely non restrictive. I understand the pattern was bought and the original designed purpose was climbing. Learning that finally explained the purpose of the horizontal strap at the upper right rear. That's where your carabiners were to be carried.

I really liked the cargo pockets as they had an extra layer sewn in with a vertical seam that created a pretty perfect set of single stack mag pockets. I thought this was standard for these shorts.
The first three pair I ordered from the ill fated OMB / Express Police Supply (Olathe, KS) who went out of business in Jan 2013. Glock sued them, I think for selling at police price to non police people.

Anyway, I ordered 4 more pairs and they did not have the extra pockets. They explained that the ones I got were likely an unsold portion of a special order from some police agency.

I was fortunate to have received all my orders because some folks weren't so lucky once their business started falling apart.

7" on a cargo short can be challenging as you're dealing with a lot of material. Also keep in mind the rise on bottoms can vary, since you're looking for 'more room', you'll want a mid to high-rise cut. I don't go 7" short unless I'm wearing Vuori but, those are more lightweight activewear than general & workwear

I recently discovered Truewerk and they've become a favorite in my rotation when I need more abrasion resistance. For a long time, there's been a pair Khul bottoms in my wardrobe as they use a variety of materials and designs I like.

I saw those truewerk ones, they look interesting. Ill look more at them. I guess I don't really need cargo shorts, just been wearing them so long I can't remember anything else. Thanks for the leads, I'll do some more research.
