Can anyone please chime in with what would be reasonable prices for various calipers? You know, pre-stupid pricing. What did you pay before all this crap started. I see prices starting to fall here but I don't know if I should buy just yet. Thanks in advance.

Are we talking brake calipers or calipers for measuring things?

Says various right there in the post, so I'd assume both.

Assuming he meant caliber, Yes ammo prices have gone slightly berserk.

Due to demand from the public! Sources have used this situation to raise prices, and noted that it didn't slow the demand, so jack up prices some more.

I think I bought 1000 round cases of 9mm for around 250 bucks from SG Ammo, and around 350.00 for 1000 .45 auto, a few years ago.

They're just pulling your chain Smile

Yes, I'm sure they did. But did you know you can go back, edit your post, and correct such things--if you had a mind to?

As for ammo prices: They are what they are. "Supply and demand" dontchaknow.

I went to a Yooper LGS (kinda, but 75 miles away, thats the Yoop) and they had a CZ P-07 in stock. $575. I jumped immediately. I bought another P-07 3 years ago for.... $425.
As I was leaving, the sales guy offered me one box (and one box only) of 9mm 115 ball for $20.
I passed on the ammo.

To try to actually answer the question, my preferred AR training ammunition, Federal AE223, was usually available for a bit less than $300 for 1000 rounds in late 2019. In June 2019 I bought 1000 round cases of 9mm Blazer aluminum for about $160 (plus tax and shipping on all).

It’s been reported, though, that manufacturers have raised prices, and not just the vendors, so I would be surprised if they go back to prepandemic levels. I suspect most reality-grounded shooters would be ecstatic at the opportunity to pay $400 for a case of 5.56 training ammo. That may change in time, but other unknowns are also out there swimming around.

I have seen my preferred 9MM target load, Speer Lawman 147gr FMJ, go from about $0.17/rd, then up to $1.00/rd. Recently I have seen it drop to $0.90/rd. So maybe things are headed in the right direction now.

A week ago I had in my hands two boxes (25 rounds each) of .22 Short. They were marked at $1.41 each. Then again, the store where they were purchased closed roughly 40 years ago. Razz

God bless America.
