I just grabbed a 1000 round bulk pack of 9mm blazer brass for $549 at a multi-state chain gunshop. Best price before that was a local shop for like $27.50/50. I refuse to pay $1/round for FMJ and the going rate around here is like $45/50. Around $0.50 a round give or take is acceptable to me in the current situation, but I'm not shooting a whole lot either. Now I can actually break in some SD guns before testing with SD rounds.

Rural King yesterday had WWB 7.62x51 M80 ball for $22/20 so I bought the limit of two boxes. Not a terrible price either, and I have an MR762 to break in...

I got so fed up with it that I talked with Para and set up a SIGforum group guy for 9mm; I don't think we're going to see .50/round again for a long time. Frown

After Sandy Hook prices on guns and ammo skyrocketed. I invested heavily into a reloading setup and components at what was deemed to be "high" back then. My cost per 9mm round was something like 15c or $15 per 100 while a box of 100 in Walmart was about $30. Since then ammo prices dropped to the point where I wouldn't even bother reloading 9mm because I didn't care about saving $3-5 dollars per 100 rounds. It simply wasn't worth the amount of time to prep and make the ammo. It's my understanding that recently some people have paid around $1 per bullet which is absolutely insane.

Yes, and you need a time machine so you can go back and by components when they were available at reasonable prices. Primers laying around at anyone’s LGS? Neither of my local places have seen pistol or rifle primers in six to eight months.

Last time I bought ammunition was before the Commiefornia ammo ban went into effect. Sam and his crew at SGAmmo were my go to place. Got Speer Lawman 124 grain TMJs around $0.20 per round. Some of it was that price before shipped, some it was pretty close to that (maybe between $200 and $205 per case) delivered. I got some of the Winchester NATO close to that, and I think the 5.56 was around $0.60 - $0.70 per round. I don’t know if we’ll ever see those prices again. I’m glad I bought as much as I did, but I wish I bought more. Wink

Sadly, Sam doesn’t deal with shipping to CA at all anymore. Not to people with a COE & a C&R (03) FFL as allowed by the ammo ban law, not even to a bricks and mortar FFL for transfer. Initially, they did ship to folks with a COE & 03 FFL, so something must have happened, probably our CA government making a huge carbuncle out of themselves so it just wasn’t worth it. Not that I be looking to but much at current prices, but it’s still a bummer. Yet another reason to look forward to escaping CA - being able to shop at SGammo again!

Paid about $15/box shipped for 1000 round case of PPU .380 FMJ last May

Now it’s going for $100 a box some places, absolutely astonishing Eek

I’ll give up shooting before I pay that.

Have you checked Ammoseek lately? After S+H and possibly sales tax, $1/round is about the best deal online you'll find.

Last August I paid 40¢/rnd. for S&B 10mm FMJ. I don't even want to think what that would cost today <smh>

I have a stock of commercial ammunition and components for reloading. Yesterday I reloaded seven hundred rounds of 9X19mm 124Gr FMJ. we'll be loading 45ACP in the next day or two. All of my commercial ammunition and components were acquired way before the current individual in the Whitehouse was elected.
