Saw it Saturday night at the drive-in with my son, who is about the same age I was when Top Gun came out. Wild, lol. This was his first time at the drive-in. Really enjoyed the movie and the experience with him.

You lost me here... could you explain please?

Sorry, in Cheech and Chong’s movie - Up in Smoke, Tom Skerrit plays a character “Cousin Strawberry” a Vietnam vet with a red birthmark on his face and ptsd/ flashbacks. I have always called him Cousin Strawberry since. I was hoping for some kind of Viper cameo or tie in. I have always liked his roles, including in Alien.

Wife and I saw it tonight, two thumbs-up here! Definitely recommend watching it on the big screen. We went to the Cine Capri here in Scottsdale that has a 70'x 30' screen and Dolby Atmos sound (40,000 watts)... awesome!!

Took the family to see Maverick last night, packed theater and great movie, no wokeness, no LGBTQJHJHJHF silliness, mild language a great family movie.

I haven’t been to a movie theater in at least a decade, maybe 2, but I will buy the 4K UHD Blu-Ray and watch it in my basement theater. Streaming is getting pretty good but I still prefer the image quality and sound produced from a quality physical disc.

My wife wanted to watch the original. I thought I owned the DVD but couldn’t find it. Netflix was streaming it so we were able to watch it again. It could have been decades since we last watched it. We did enjoy it though.

Granted it was streamed, only HD and was released 36 years ago but on a 125” diagonal 2.35:1 screen the quality wasn’t that good. I understand there is a 4K UHD Blu-ray available but don’t plan on buying a copy.

I am not a big Tom Cruise fan and I need to work a bit to separate my opinion of the person, that I really don’t know, from the actor. He is the leading actor in a lot of movies with stories I enjoy. I still appreciate them but at times have a difficult time buying all the tuff guy roles he plays, none more that a 5’ 7” actor playing Jack Reacher, a character that was 6' 5” and 250 pounds in the books.

Wife and I saw it this evening.

Some special, tickets were $5.00 each. Less than a dozen people in the theater.

We both enjoyed it.

I really liked the movie. I was kinda hoping for a reveal that Amelia was Mav's daughter, but that would have been a pretty wonky shoehorn. I didn't realize it until watching YouTube content that Penny is the Admiral's daughter mentioned in the first movie. Easy to miss a single-line reference, though.

You’re missing out then.

The wife and I watched the original the night before and I found it hokey and not aging well. The sequel is 1,000x better and has none of the Hollywood military BS like the scene in the first movie where the pilot is wearing a COWBOY HAT at a flight briefing. Not sure how the real Navy would have dealt with that, but the Army would have sent that clown packing in about .3 seconds had he tried that.

Go see it!

I’ve seen it twice now - Friday and Tuesday. It’s been decades since I saw a movie twice in the theaters. Heck, I normally only see 3 or 4 movies per year at the theater.

The wife and I went yesterday. Super good movie, probably better than the first one. Tom Cruise is a gifted actor, always has been, but he's taken this movie to a whole new level.

Oh, in my mind he is the only believable Jack Reacher. Smile

I guess I’m in the minority group here, I was not impressed with Maverick. In another thread I said it was very predictable and borderline boring.

Nothing about Maverick wowed me. Yeah, the visuals were pretty good, but the mission was stupid. They ripped off Star Wars with the missile shot.
