I live pretty close to NAS Pensacola ( where they teach navy pilots and the blue angels are based) They had a special screening for the aviator trainees the other night. I thought that was very cool. I saw the original in the theater several times the summer it came out when I was a teen. I may have go to a real theater for the first time in several years to see this

I disagree, They are both good actors and both nut jobs.

He’s a nut job but I loved the first Top Gun and the trailer for this one looks amazing. I’ll probably wait and buy the Blu-ray so I can give my system a workout.

We have at least two Maverick threads going on in The Lair.

Unless they are downright treasonous (Jane Fonda), I’ve learned to separate the actor from the acting… it makes movies much more enjoyable.

Is he flying a cargo plane full of dog shit out of Hong Kong in this movie. ----------------------------- Guns are awesome because they shoot solid lead freedom. Every man should have several guns. And several dogs, because a man with a cat is a woman. Kurt Schlichter

Ohhhhhh a Top Gun thread. I was almost coming in here expecting to argue that Maverick hasn’t been good since he left factory Yamaha. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The price of liberty and even of common humanity is eternal vigilance

Wait, what? |
Tom Cruise is a bit of a douche nozzle and is as nutty as Christmas cake, but to say he isn’t a good actor is nothing but personal bias. “Remember to get vaccinated or a vaccinated person might get sick from a virus they got vaccinated against because you’re not vaccinated.” - author unknown

I have two free tickets from eating at applebee's. I'm going to watch it just because I saw the first one. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." The problem with Tom Cruise is that he essentially plays the same character in every movie he's in. He does do it well, but I would say that that does not a good actor make. Compare him to DiCaprio. No contest. The latter becomes the characters that he is playing vs. the characters becoming Tom Cruise. You don't see DiCaprio in the film, you see the character. That is the mark of a good actor. ________________________________________________________ "Great danger lies in the notion that we can reason with evil." Doug Patton.

For sure. Is Blu-ray a thing anymore? The streaming market is booming, but movie lovers are still buying DVDs and Blu-Rays. Collectors told Insider that physical discs offer higher movie quality than streaming services do. Even Netflix, which started in the DVD business, still makes money renting discs to customers.
