| I was at Ft Leonard Wood right in the middle of Desert Storm. If I were doing it again, I’d show up to basic with nothing. I’d be standing at shakedown with nothing but a toothbrush. No need to hold up to the side at arm’s length any more than necessary.

I showed up for Basic at Ft. Lewis and had nothing but my wallet, comb and the clothes on my back. |
