Some Rolex dealers are withholding the warranty card for a year after purchase, in an effort to stop flippers making an instant profit.

Meanwhile, our local Rolex dealer seems to be more than happy to sell the watches he has in stock - many, many, Grasshopper, at the sticker price. As I already have three, one of which I got for nothing, I'm not tempted, having gotten all Rolex'ed out years ago.

On my wrist as I write this is my ten-y/o DSSD, and while I love it dearly, there is no way on earth that I'd ever even dream of replacing it with a newer version.

Meanwhile, I've bought a few cheap but good-looking watches, just because they look good, and represent extreme VFM.

My next watch will likely be either a Goutte d'Eau in blue or Crafter Blue Hyperion, again in blue, with one of their spiffy blue rubber straps.

I like blue watches, but £12K for a blue dial DSSD is not my style.
