ORC,
My prayers are on the way for your MIL.
She was fortunate that you stopped by to check in on her.

I’m so sorry to hear this. When it’s all said and done, we say brave things like “she’s had a good life” when people ask how we’re doing. But, it’s always too soon no matter how brave an act we put on. And it never helps the hurt and devastation we feel when those we love are clinging to life.

My mother fell and broke her hip 3 years ago. Until then, she would not leave her house. Mother is now 100 years old, in assisted living. Memory failed and stubborn as hell.

ORC, you may remember Missy and I went thru that with my mother and her broken hip last year. She’s recovered but walks with walker and doesn't drive anymore. Two months ago I moved her into independent living.

Trust the healthcare system will nurse her back to health; but it may be a new normal. And, she’s likely going to need tighter knit support group going forward.

The hardest part now is the wait learning to what extent she’ll recover. You of course have our prayers.

Keep us posted. Many of us have been there and we can share our thoughts and experiences.

Hi guys, Thank you again for chiming in on this thread and offering prayers and support. That is very helpful and appreciated.
Sadly my mil was not able to recover from the stroke and other injuries from the fall and passed away.
She received excellent, compassionate care during her time in the medical facility.

I never had issues with her. She never involved herself in our affairs and I always had a good relationship. She was a good, strong, independent, freedom loving woman and am glad to have been part of her family. She will be missed greatly.
Again guys, Thank you.
