Turns out he’s a regular Harmon Rabb. A JAG lawyer, Marine SOF, blah blah blah. Basically, he’s using the “assigned to MARSOC” to imply he’s some kind of special operations officer. When the most reasonable scenario is his “assignment” was being the rat squad to try to jam up MARSOC and SOF guys at war. No doubt a friggin war hero, this one.

Is he the idiot shooting steel at 10 yards with no eye protection, or the guy watching?

This reminds me of the Ukrainian "sniper" with her eye jammed up against her scope eyepiece.
