Anyone into fragrance? At the moment I like Creed. Well, for the past few years I have been into them.

Aventus silver and black, as I like to call it, is their top of the line at the moment. Green Irish Tweed is my all time favorite because at one point in its production it reminded me of Davidoff Cool Water in its early days which was an amazing fragrance, but they are putting everything into the Aventus silver and black and especially the new Aventus cologne, that Green Irish Tweed isn't what it used to be. Its still exceptional, but not the same.

What yall think, fragrance heads?

I’ve got a small amount of Armani Mania (discontinued) leftover that I’ll spritz on special occasions. I received some Armani Code as a gift that is close to the Mania, but just a tad more intense.

Mentioned was Polo Ralph Lauren and Drakkar.

First, old school Drakkar cannot be matched. I have yet to find anything like it. Current production Drakkar is nothing but a shadow of what early Drakkar used to be. Drakkar is one of my top 5 fragrances. Amazing it was with its fresh, masculine calone essence!

The other one, Ralph Lauren Polo. Another classic and amazing fragrance! Creeds Bois De Portugal is old Ralph Lauren Polo green bottle which is what I assume you are referring to. Classic and refined the Creed version of it is.

brywards if what you have is discontinued and you like it, use it sparingly because I guarantee you in the years to come it wont be the same. save and enjoy it from now on.

I used Coty Wild Spice for years. You can find it but is hard to find now. I am now using Ps By Paul Sebastian. Would try Viking but it is WAY out of my price range.

Sometimes Old Spice. The scent that I like is Lagerfeld. For showering I like Dr Bronners Almond, and the Peppermint, and Rose. The best compliment that I got was when a young lady told me that I smelled like a candy cane.

For several years I have been using Pre de Provence soap from France. The soap has many different scents and I reccommend it.

Good to know. I got some OS a few years ago and tossed it. It has obviously been reformulated as frags often are. I'll have to check out CV.

I have a spreadsheet of over 100 different frags I have tried with different notes and comments. Most I don't like and tend to keep the non-trendy stuff.

One of my favorites is Hommage a L'Homme by Lalique. I used to smoke and one of my favorite scents was that of a freshly opened pack of cigarettes. There are a lot of tobacco scents out there but I think Hommage captures it best and it's a lot cheaper than the trendy Tom Ford juice.

Every year I get a new frag for my wife on her birthday. For the past several years I have delved into the archives and fished out the popular scents of 100 or so years ago. Fortunately many are still in production. One of the best ones I have found is Lheure Bleu by Guerlain. It was introduced in 1912. My wife gets a lot of compliments on it.

Recently my wife and I had a lengthy layover in Dubai and were able to get over to the Dubai Mall and purchase some oud based frags. They are a lot different than the watered down ouds available in the U.S. and Europe.

Do you visit Fragrantica and Basenotes?

I haven't used scented toilet or as my late grandfather used to say eu de toilet.

When i was younger I used to wear Polo, and Drakkar, Stetson, Polo Safari (I used to steal it from my friends), Joop and Pierre Cardin

I will have to try Creed.
My paternal grandfather used to wear Brut and English Leather. For Everyday use though he used Avon after shave but like everything else it has changed.

Now I just wear right guard.

I have been using the Fulton and Roark solid cologne for a while. Really like them. I currently rotate between Hatteras, Tybee, and Shackleford. Good stuff.

Luis:

I checked it out. For $355 dollars I can get a 50ml bottle of Creed Viking which smells like the Old Spice my father used to use.

Looking further, I found that for $800 I can buy the 250ml size (although that is still about 100 times more expensive than the old school price of an actual bottle Old Spice down at the at Wal-Mart).

The best value, though, is clearly to buy the 500ml bottle which they sell for only $1,170.

Sadly however, and not to rain on anyone’s parade, i crunched some numbers and found that, if you time your ticket purchase just right, you can spend less than $1,170 and fly round trip to Gothenburg while wearing two splashes of the $8 Old Spice from Wal-Mart and it still comes out better in the end.

So, for that reason, I’ll have to pass.

Thanks though.
