For many years I used Brut. For the last 30 years or so, whenever I'm around someone with a noticeable smell of perfume or cologne, I have to get away from them, because it's sickening. The only thing I use is the cheap Clubman Bay Rum after shave that they used to use in the old barber shops.

Actually you could go on eBay and get a sample that would last you quite a while if you don't bathe in it for about 6 bucks.

So guys, please have some consideration for those of us who have anaphylactic reactions to strong fragrances. I once shook hands with a guy who smelled like he'd marinated in the stuff, and it was still on his hands. I had to go and immediately scrub viciously to get that shit off my hands.

Fortunately, I don't the the "breathing passages blocked up" reaction, but I do get headaches and nausea.

Go easy on the stuff, OK? Besides, fragrances are meant to "hint" at something, not blare it out loud.

You can't truly call yourself "peaceful" unless you are capable of great violence. If you're not capable of great violence, you're not peaceful, you're harmless.

use to use Jovan Musk till I developed alergies to all fragrances, so my allergist recommended plain old witch hazel. That is all I use now.

I used to use the popular cologne of the day, back when that used to be a thing.

I've tried most of the major brands, but now don't like any of them.

I think the trend is fading.

Even with my diminished sense of smell at 75, I note that in the low humidity of Colorado a little perfume or cologne goes a lot further than the high humidity of Dallas.

When I used to shave daily, I'd use a light splash of Gabel's Bay Rum aftershave in the morning.

My daily is Armani Aqua di gio Profumo or YSL lhomme. Creed is pretty amazing if you have the coin.

Grey Flannel was my go to for years. Now it’s Royal Bay Rhum or Oglala Bay Rum.

Sadly, I have significant allergies and my nasal passages block up tight. My wife was out of town and it was Wednesday so I decided I'd stop at this restaurant and grab some supper before Church.

I'd only been there about five minutes when my nose absolutely stopped letting any air in, My throat was getting more and more constricted. I was gonna call 911 when this older, but younger than me, couple, seated by me, got up and moved off to the register to pay.

Within a couple of minutes, my throat started to relax and my nose began to open. I never smelled the perfume but when they left, I decided I was gonna live.

That was the worst time, but often perfume of certain types really affects me.

I expect it is because, the older we get, the less well we can smell, so when one puts on some perfume, they put it on till they can smell it. And, of course, I have those allergies.

Bad news for me, but I never say anything or act as if I'm bothered as I sure don't want to embarrass anyone or hurt someone's feelings. I just try to relocate without making any scene.

Wow! YAll yall have great taste in frags! Someone mentioned the Ouds which are quite popular at the moment.

I had in the past visit basenotes and fragrantica when I was shopping for fragrance and learned about reforms. I guess its true to an extent. I stuck with Creed since a few years ago because I like the old fragrances which were popular in their day and Creed seems to go the route of updating or recreating the old classics. Im simple I guess LOL!

I alternate between GIT and Aventus. Aventus is really not even my style as these days I usually just throw on a pair of faded jeans and a polo but I just love the scent. Its an oldie! Im a sucker for classics. Anything classic!

Im waiting for them to do a version of Drakkar Noir of the early days. I even sent them an email about it. Yes Silver Mountain Water is amazing too!

Creed Vetiver
Hermes Terra de Hermes
Hermes Voyage de Hermes
Chanel Bleu de Chanel
Dior Fahrenheit
Viktor and Rolf Spicebomb

To each their own. I’m sure a few like what I like and many probably hate it.
