I couldn't be more proud of this man. Yes, I've heard the rumors that Trump tapped him as SoS in order to get him out of the Senate, and if that's true (which I doubt sincerely), all I can say is that President Trump lucked into perhaps the very best possible choice for this vital senior position.

We are light-years away from "Little Marco". Every single word I have heard him utter since assuming his new role has been nigh on perfect.

The interview below, which I strongly encourage all here to watch, demonstrates Rubio's seasoned experience and confidence. Setting aside any personal animosity for past clashes with Donald Trump, Secretary Rubio evinces full support of his CiC with a crystal clear understanding of President Trump's desires and intent with regards to this obscene war.

I'm beginning to think that J.D. Vance might have a serious contender in 2028, and I think a Vance/Rubio ticket could be an unbeatable powerhouse.

But, all such speculation aside, I have to say I could not be more pleased to have Marco Rubio as S0S.

I posted both an abbreviated clip and the full interview in the Trump thread but I am so very impressed, I felt this deserved highlighting. It bodes well for the United States. Do yourself a favor and invest the 19 minutes.

I just finished watching the interview in the other thread and all I can say is "my, oh my Little Rubio have you have grown up".

It may be one most articulate and focused interviews I have ever seen.

Simply, on point and well explained.

Incredible and makes me very proud.

When The Donald picked JD I thought, "Hell yeah!". Young guy, handsome, conservative, well spoken, well educated...this is the future of our party.

Then he picked Little Marco, and I thought, "Damn".

Secretary of State has long been thought of as a stepping stone for the Presidency. We know that that is Marco's goal.

They are both doing a bang up job, and I hope that they both keep it up, but I also hope that in a few years this doesn't turn into a fight between the two. That would be ugly and it would not do the party any favors.

But, let's not put the cart before the horse. We've got a long couple of years to get through first. In the end, it'll all work out the way it should.

The way I see it, the election opened Rubio’s eyes to the fact that you can be tough, fair and principled while still being successful. I also get the feeling that Trump made it clear to all concerned that you could either lend a hand or get wrecked.

Marco Rubio was in a contentious campaign against Trump in 2016, but afterwards he ended up working with Trump, supporting him even through the dark times. I did take notice that he refused to throw his hat into the ring in the 2024 Republican primaries, it was rumored he did not want to run against Trump, remaining loyal to him by endorsing him over his fellow Floridian DeSantis. I honestly thought Rubio might've had a great chance at becoming VP, but his role as Sec of State is perfect. He has the knack of not being controversial, but sticking to Trump's agenda 100%. And of course he is extremely press savvy I'm certain he will serve all four years, and yes, he is very much a contender for higher office.

Yes, Secretary of State Marco Rubio is doing a great job.

Collins is insufferable as are most cnn/msnbc hosts. How they manage to look so smug while so ignorant is amazing.

She is. But, in this interview, she was actually surprisingly restrained, letting Rubio talk at length w/o interrupting. Real nasty bitches are Margaret Brennan (CBS) and Dana Bash (CNN), constantly interrupting.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio continues to shine in his role as chief diplomat for President Trump.

WASHINGTON, March 9 (Reuters) – U.S. officials are planning to use Tuesday’s meeting with a Ukrainian delegation in Saudi Arabia in part to determine whether Ukraine is willing to make material concessions to Russia to end the war, according to two U.S. officials.

The U.S. delegation will also be watching for signs that the Ukrainians are serious about improving ties with the Trump administration after a meeting between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy devolved into an argument last month, said one of the officials, who requested anonymity to preview the closed-door talks.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio will fly to Jeddah on Sunday for the bilateral talks with Ukrainian officials, who will be led by Andriy Yermak, a top Zelenskiy aide. Rubio is expected to be joined by National Security Adviser Mike Waltz and Trump’s Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff.

“You can’t say ‘I want peace,’ and, ‘I refuse to compromise on anything,'” one of the U.S. officials said of the upcoming talks.

“We want to see if the Ukrainians are interested not just in peace, but in a realistic peace,” said the other official. “If they are only interested in 2014 or 2022 borders, that tells you something.” (read more)

A few weeks ago Trump raised the concern of China and their involvement in the panama canal. Marco visited Panama a few weeks ago and now last week we find out Blackrock is taking over both major canal ports displacing the Chinese.

Marco perhaps said to Panama "Either you can turn over management to Blackrock or we will turn over canal management to the 82nd airborne, your choice"

I hope to see Marco take on bigger high visibility policy rolls

It’s early in the Trump 47 administration but to me he stands head and shoulders above any past sos in my lifetime (born in the 1950s).

I believe him to be proving himself as the strongest pick made by Trump in a stellar cast of appointments.

I still remember Rubio as a frontline contender for the Presidency until he gave the Republican's counterpoint to a State of the Union address, unfortunately.

But, yes, he's pretty sharp.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual."
