| Gone but Together Again. Dad & Uncle ![]() |
Last October I started riding my bike 3x/wk for exercise. I've reduced my time for 15.5 miles from 1:10 to 49 minutes. Needless to say, it is hard workout, but I am seeing good results. The added bonus is bicycling is easier on my knee replacement versus jogging. However, from both a 4-legged critter and other perspective, I've tried to CCW with a belly band and a mesh CCW undershirt. The belly band was super uncomfortable, and the undershirt works, but there has to be a better way. Do any of you ride a bike and CCW? If yes, what works for you. BTW I am 5'9" tall and weigh 166 lbs.

^^^ Heck, I guess I could wear a dual holster cowboy rig while I am at it - LOL. I don't want my skeleton on the bike path like that of this deer.

Don’t the jersey’s that pro bike riders use have a pouch in the back? Maybe that would work. I was in the Pisgah National Forrest yesterday doing a little fly fishing and there were dozens of bike riders all wearing some sort of brightly colored jerseys… ------------------ Eddie Our Founding Fathers were men who understood that the right thing is not necessarily the written thing. -kkina

What kind of clothing do you wear? Bike style clothing or just regular street style clothing. The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution. All things are easier with a light gun, LCP, UC S&W, etc.. It’s more of a low drama event to spray a dog than shoot one. I know, scenarios run the gamut, understand, just saying.

I am serious about the Kenai Chest Holster. For the record, I carry a spare mag w/ me on the Gunfighters chest rig as well. The Kenai Chest Holster is ideal for pretty much anything you would do outdoors, especially for fishing, hiking, backpacking and mountain biking. Honestly bicycling is a perfect application for a chest holster, especially given the wardrobe for that activity. ____________________________________________________________ If Some is Good, and More is Better.....then Too Much, is Just Enough !! I would be careful about carrying in or near the small of the back. When in a crash, an object there can break a lumbar vertebrae if you come down on that area. I know someone who was carrying a tool in a jersey back pocket, took a spill, and broke a vertebrae. A fanny pack swiveled to the front would work fairly well. -c1steve

Why not a fanny pack, sorry, for the bike crew it's a "Hip Pack" used typically when mountain biking, don't see why it wouldn't work for street riding. Link a Mundo! You turn it around on your back when riding, just practice getting to it, odds are other than a few stray animals, unless you ride through the hood you'll be fine with that kind of access... Falco makes a tube bag for bicycles, might be a good alternative if you don't want to have the bag on you when riding.. Link Falco Holster Bag

Fanny pack. I carried a J frame S&W in mine when I used to go biking. Still wear it while walking. I keep it in a IWB holster inside the bag so that the trigger is covered. Not very ‘fashionable,’ but who cares. +1 on the mace/pepper spray option. I’ve never had to shoot an attacking dog (thank God), but I would rather accidentally spray some pepper on a bystander than shoot them. I do not, but two of my friends do. Both of them happen to carry Glock 42s while riding. One wears regular shorts with a belt over his riding shorts, he carries IWB. The other one wears a fanny pack. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tomorrow's battle is won during today's practice.

I don't know what you wear when you cycle but they do make bib shorts with outside pockets now that might hold a smaller gun. I've used a crossbreed modular belly band in the past, worn up on my chest over my heart rate strap. Once it gets warm out it's not the most comfortable though. I've also seen ccw undershirts but have no idea if they're any good, personally unless it's cold out I don't really want any layers.

I have a chest type holster bag and have worn it biking, but not recently. When I did, it was in Gary, IN. As you can imagine, I might have needed it.

Hill people gear kit bag https://hillpeoplegear.com/Pro...ryID/1/ProductID/189 5.11 version of the same style bag https://www.511tactical.com/sk...8zCBFPhoCUO0QAvD_BwE I use the 5.11 version for both mtn biking and riding rail trails and similar. It works great with camelback style pack as well.

I wear a cross chest bag made by Vertx when riding my recumbent trike but position it like a shoulder rig under my arm. Since I sit so low I am face to muzzle with larger size dogs. It is shown in their Lena Miculek collection and is designed to hold a holster so you don't need to cobble it. Big enough to barely fit a Dan Wesson CCO 45 but G30 or HK P30SK fit better. Well thought out for carry and you can have a can of pepper spray on the belt. Doesn't scream tactical either, I have worn it into local bike shops with no questions asked. https://vertx.com/products/everyday-fanny-pack The “POLICE" Their job Is To Save Your Ass, Not Kiss It The muzzle end of a .45 pretty much says "go away" in any language - Clint Smith

I use a Hill People Gear Kit Bag (chest pack) with a Crossbreed velcro-backed kydex holster inside it when biking, kayaking, etc. Sometimes when hiking too. https://hillpeoplegear.com/Products/CategoryID/1 Mine's the Heavy Recon, but that's their largest one, so you could probably get away with one of their smaller ones like their Original, Snubby, or Runner's if you just wanted to use it to carry a subcompact pistol while biking. I got that particular one because I also use it for gear while hunting, so I wanted on that was decently large.

Hill People Gear chest rig. And for a less tactical look, Elite Survival Systems makes a less tactical, more snowflake friendly chest rig. Mine will accommodate a Gen 5 G20 with an optic. End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles
