I’ve been here in Ventura since Friday mostly for business but have taken some time to see the area. It is really quite nice here right on the ocean. If I was independently wealth then might be a nice place to live but how can any $5300 a month for a 700 SF apartment with a view of a brick wall.

Southern California weather, especially on the coast, is famous for good reason. Much of this state is a great place to live, based on geography and climate.... You can find pretty much any climate you want in this state... But has hundreds of thousands of us have figured out, it just isn't worth it. My count down is down to 2 years, 4 months, and 22 days.

You are here im my hometown. Welcome! Do yourself a favor and go to Lure on California St right in the middle of downtown. Spencer Makenzie's on Thompson, also downtown, has a great happy hour featuring their Baja style fish tacos. Neptunes Net is a shitshow with a great beach view. It is almost all fried food that costs an arm and a leg. Need anything else, let me know. Enjoy! ************************* Chaos, panic and disorder. My work here is done........ Not everyone gets the same version of me. One person might tell you I'm an amazing beautiful soul. Another person will say I'm a cold-hearted asshole. Believe them both. I act accordingly......

Point Mugu Navy Air Weapons Station RV Park, right on the beach. One of our favorite stops on the way back to Arizona. I could have stayed there for a long time but, California. If you're goin' through hell, keep on going. Don't slow down. If you're scared don't show it. You might get out before the devil even knows you're there. NRA ENDOWMENT LIFE MEMBER

I passed through the area many times, albeit on my way to somewhere else (parents lived in Carpinteria, about 20 miles north/west, just before Santa Barbara). Nice, if you can afford it. Ventura County is more open and laid back than L.A. Many houses, even expensive ones, don't have A/C - it almost never gets hot enough to need it. Remember when Jim Rockford lived in a mobile home, on the beach, in Malibu? Those days are long gone, if they ever existed.

Get out to the Channel Islands harbor or the Ventura harbor (Andreas for the one of the favorite spots) and walk around the harbor. Good spot and lots of food or drink and dessert options if you skip Andrea’s. Oxnard Shores area is a great beach area with few people and no lifeguards or other “officials”. If needed I could meet up with you to show you a couple beach spots. ...Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel, was just a freight train coming your way...

Yes this area is amazing but cost an arm, a leg, a liver, a kidney, half your brain and then some to move here. I live in Simi Valley a little inland but go out to Ventura/Oxnard often. I make over $100k a year myself and can say alone it’d be more than a struggle. No idea if this came up, but the Ronald Reagan Library ain’t far from ya! Might be worth a visit, I work next door… about a half mile west If you’re sampling the local flavor I recommend Tarantula Hill Liquid Candy IPA (I’ll go with you to TH for a beer!) or Transmission for a Fog Lights hazy IPA. ...Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel, was just a freight train coming your way...

There is no place in America with better year round weather. Hit me up if you want recommendations for dining or need anything while you are visiting. I sent an email with contact. Ignem Feram

Rumfish is another great option in Ventura, but there are lots of them. Highly recommend Cafe Zack on Thompson. Ventura weather isn’t bad, but it’s foggier than I like. Head inland 15 to 20 minutes and you’ll lose most of the fog, but pay the price for slightly warmer summers. If you head up the coast, Avila is generally sunny, even when Pismo to the south and Los Osos and Morro Bay to the north are foggy. The weather is pretty awesome and the scenery can be amazing, but I’d have drug the wife out of here kicking and screaming years ago if I could have. Oh well…

You're in one of the best areas of teh entire country. Weather is quite pleasant year round, enough agriculture around to remind people of where their food comes from without feeling you're in teh middle of nowhere, close enough to major airports and services and close enough to other nice getaway spots like Santa Barbara/Los Olivos-area.

My SIL lives in Oxnard, we love visiting, and it’s actually somewhat affordable, by California/coastal standards. We also love the cities along 101 there on the drive down, SLO, Paso Robles, etc, but Pismo seems VERY touristy.

Ventura is the wife home town. I enjoy when we visit her family. Try 'Petes Breakfast House" very good home style food and a triple D spot. 'I am the danger'...Hiesenberg NRA Certified Pistol Instructor NRA Certified Rifle Instructor NRA Life Member

Finally home in Tucson. Had two days of company meetings at the Westlake Village Inn. A very nice venue. I really enjoyed Ventura and looking to go back. I’ve been to the Reagan Library twice and just ran out of time to see it again. But will certainly give more notice to try to meet up with some locals. As much as I liked Main Street, I probably won’t stay at the Crowne Plaza again. Although right on the beach it’s also right in 101 and commuter rail line. Didn’t sleep well at all.
