thumperfbcFord Flex power liftgate problem
Hoping someone has experienced this and that it is an easy fix, avoiding a trip to a dealer.
The power hatch on my wife’s Flex stopped functioning. If it is closed, pushing any of the buttons cause it to unlatch, chime 3 times, and start to open. After a few inches of travel it reverses direction and re-closes.
If the hatch is open, pushing any of the buttons causes it to chime like normal, begin to close, but almost immediately reverse direction and reopen fully.
I tried the “reset” procedure in the manual, twice, with no change in status.
Clues?

Mars_AttacksThe pressurized cylinders are probably bad and need replacing.
I just put a set on a Lexus doing the same thing.

thumperfbcThe “passive” support struts or the active actuator strut?

P250UA5Haven't had that issue on our Flex.
Can you manually open/close without excessive resistance?
Might search the same issue but with Explorer in place of Flex. I'm sure their liftgate systems are very similar.

Black92LXReplacing the non powered lift gate shocks should resolve the issue.
My wife’s Highlander had a very similar issue I assumed it was the motor. Best I could find was like $400 from a junk yard so I said screw it and just did it manually.
Since it worked just fine manually never thought the non powered shocks were the issue.
Sure enough $30 later with new shocks and it worked perfectly.

thumperfbcI’ll give those a try. I’d love an easy fix!
