I mostly go on X for politics. I follow:

- Elon Musk
- Charlie Kirk
- Tucker Carlson
- James Woods
- Juanita Broaddrick
- Michael Knowles

Couple of fyis:

1. Famous people will often attract parody accounts. Look for a blue verification check mark to be sure you're following the actual person you're interested in.

2. Some folks are prodigious posters/"retweeters" and can overwhelm your feed. For example, as much as I like the Hodge Twins, those guys crank out or retweet a huge amount of content. I had to "unfollow" them in order to keep my feed manageable.

Whoever you choose to subscribe to, be prepared to wade through a veritable ocean of bullshit.

I'm not talking about foolish political opinions or woke crap. I'm talking about people who are supposed to be on your side, who are posting the stupidest shit, all for clicks and "engagement".

You'll see.

Lots of posting of rumors, too, and even when these rumors are proven to be untrue, people will continue to post them, because the stuff generates clicks.

Members with the blue check by their name can get paid each month if they generate enough traffic (which equates to advertising revenue for Twitter).

Bullshit, an OCEAN of bullshit. As a matter of fact, that's mostly what Twitter is made up of. I'm not kidding.

But, wait, Para, I thought you were a big fan of the platform.

Yes, I am, because in this vast ocean of bullshit are islands containing useful information and good people to connect with, and in that respect, Twitter stands alone these days. Despite all the stupid, phony and self-serving crap on Twitter, it's one of the very few places where the truth can be expressed, and it's the only one on such a grand scale.

It's just the way it is.

You'll see.

Again I'm a complete Twitter / X newbie. Where can I find a list of those I've opted to follow on X? On YouTube I can pull up a list to manage. It has eluded me thus far....

And Para, you're right... the place is a seeming madhouse.

Difference between follow and subscribe?

Once you have a group of folks, you can create a list and add them. https://help.x.com/en/using-x/x-lists

I have an account just so I can go and see videos linked on X that are embedded in other places. I also post some generic wording that gives me a sweepstakes entry.

I subscribe to YouTube channels for content I find useful. And those channels make money off me being subscribed. I just don't like other people making money off my body.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

I follow various of the ones already mentioned. I rejoined when Trump came back. I had cancelled my account when he was banned.

The most surprising thing I've seen is the anti-semitic and anti-Israel lunacy. Often it's from a middle eastern sounding account (big surprise).

Just tons of people posting made-up crap that is then commented on and re-tweeted by idiots without even trying to verify it, or using basic critical thinking. The ultimate middle school rumor mill.

^^^There is ALL of that, but...There's also lot's of legit 'Breaking News', which you of course need to wade thru/verify, but 9 times out of 10, all that news is Breaking News is on 'X' LONG before it shows up in the Legacy State Media! As an example, just look at the Assassination Attempt on Donald Trump. First it was lies, obfuscation and misinformation by the Legacy Media, and much of that continues to this day. Sometimes it's not when, but if ever it will show up in the Legacy State Media!
