I know people may have differing opinions on the NRA, but for a very long time I was just a year by year member. I then finally decided to become a life member and did so not using a discount, but paying the full amount using their payment plan as I wanted them to have the money. —-I am not knocking anyone who takes advantage of a lifetime membership upgrade at a lower price. As a matter of fact, I did so on my last upgrade.

As I have achieved each new life membership level, I have continued to do the same payment plan. Tonight I made my last payment and am now an NRA Benefactor Life Member.

Here and there I do also give money to the NRA-ILA. I really do love how they send me emails regarding national or state pro-gun legislation and all I have to do is click on a link, fill out my info, and emails get sent to respective legislators. This makes it very easy to support pro gun legislation.

I just had to share as I am happy I made it to the highest level of NRA membership.

I used to be a member but I get the feeling that there are better alternatives like Gun Owners of America. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the financial scandel.

Honestly, I don’t care who anyone chooses to be a member of as long as they support organizations that help protect our right to bear arms. Heck, I may now look into the org you mentioned. I am not defending any financial scandals, but with almost any organization with money involved you will have someone steal money. I do not know the specifics with which you regard with the NRA, but I will look into it. Like I said, I know not everyone likes the NRA, but they do help our fight along with other great organizations.

I would love to research more about it, do you have any links to the financial scandal? When I do a Google search on “NRA financial scandal”, all I see is liberal news links about Oliver North leaving so maybe I am missing something obvious.

Congrats! I almost did the upgrade to Benefactor earlier in the year but ended up having to use the money elsewhere. It's still in my sights though. For now I'm hanging in with Patron Membership. Thank you for your commitment.

Thanks Blaze. This has been a 20+ year endeavor so I am very happy to reach the level I have. I should not have just done annual membership for as long as I did. The only way I could afford each level was the payment plan so I am glad they offer it and also offer it at a discount sometimes.

I let my NRA membership expire the same year I became a life member of GOA.

I agree that no organization can be perfect and the NRA has the size and clout. I didn't mean to rain on your parade because the NRA does fight for gun owners but I also think you should know where and what your money goes toward.

Good for you StorminNormin. I was an Endowment life member for the last 20 years and then upgraded to Patron life this last year. They aren't perfect but the NRA is still the big dog on the block when it comes to looking out for our 2A rights. If we had 10 or 20 million members the socialists would have a lot harder time shoving their antigun agenda down our throats.

After the liberal leftists stir enough shit to destroy the NRA it will be a piece of cake for them to achieve their goals. It’s the exact same playbook they used to take over in Colorado. GOA may be a fine organization, or it may have internal problems as yet unrevealed, but it damn sure doesn’t have the presence of the multiple million member voter bloc of NRA.

Thank you to those who have the foresight to continue to support the NRA despite its current troubles and the efforts of the GDCs to destroy it.

Congratulations and thank you.

It’s easy to find reasons to not support the NRA. Its leadership doesn’t have a lot of accountability, and that leads to abuses, not to mention policies that not all gun owners agree with. If it weren’t for the NRA of America, however, we wouldn’t even be discussing gun rights on a forum like this because our ability to exercise those rights would have been ruled and legislated out of existence long, long ago. The Left doesn’t attack gun rights organizations other than the NRA because even they know all the others are toothless in comparison.

If every gun owner in the country were a member of the NRA and voted like a gun owner (as Dillon Precision used to urge), we wouldn’t be worried about our rights to keep and bear arms any more than we would worry about our right to breathe the air. Alas, however, that is not true.

You get it. The left has tried for years to bring down the NRA and couldn’t. They now have gun owners doing it for them and are so proud of those “no longer members”. When we do lose our Rights, we will have done so by those claiming to be in our number.

Congratulations and thank you for the level of support you’ve given the NRA. Without a doubt the NRA is the single most important gun organization. Arguably it’s the only gun organization that matters, and we’d be sunk without it. As Sigfreund said, if any other gun organization mattered nearly as much, the left would attack them as well. They don’t because they just don’t matter

NPR reports that LaPierre is the second highest paid executive of a non-medical non-profit. Such a financial scandal!! (sarcasm)

Support any other gun organization you want, IN ADDITION TO the NRA. In my opinion if you don’t support the NRA, you are not a smart gun owner. It’s like not voting for the conservative because he’s not perfect, and letting the liberal win. I’m really getting tired of the bullshit from people who don’t support the NRA. I’m not saying you can’t criticize specific policies or issues, but if you believe in gun rights and don’t support the NRA, I think you’re pretty stupid.
