Congrats from a Life Member since 2008.

The NRA, like Trump, gives the commies nightmares, the only gun org to do so. We need more members, not less.

I would love to research more about it, do you have any links to the financial scandal? When I do a Google search on “NRA financial scandal”, all I see is liberal news links about Oliver North leaving so maybe I am missing something obvious.
Yes, there is an 8-page thread right here on Sigforum and the latter pages have the details of LaPierre's financial malfeasance

Like I wrote in that thread, I'm an Endowment level Life Member and do not like LaPierre. I'm not moving up to Patron level or giving more $$ until he is gone.

We need a leader who wants to get 4x or 5x the number of current members and to accomplish more on the federal and state level. Currently, LaPierre runs it to mine the existing member's wallets (e.g. endless pleas for more money), fancy events/parties, and make meager progress at the federal and state level.

Like every other organization with a cause they will ask for donations. Ever donate to St. Jude's Childrens Fund? Ever donate to the Salvation Army? Ever donate to The March of Dimes? They are no different and at times ask much more frequently. Appreciate the address labels. (stated tongue in cheek.)

Congrats on the Benefactor membership. I've been one for a few years now.

Thank you!

The NRA, while imperfect, allows the smaller organizations like GOA and state groups to operate without the attacks that the NRA absorbs from the anti-gunners. Most anti-gun people don’t even know of any other organization than the NRA.

And FWIW, people complain about the junk mail the NRA sends but GOA sent me as much if not more while I was a member.

Not to be Debbie Downer, but I would wager those groups have more financial oversight, & don’t generally piss money away like WLP.

Until the NRA is held to account for the gigantic financial expenditures on non related perks, & actually starts fighting onerous gun laws, they ain’t gettin any more money from me.

They just keep on coming.

I've been a Benefactor lifetime member for a few years, and now the NRA wants to "award" me with a Golden Eagle membership. Oh yeah, this "award" comes with a membership that costs another $250 a year.

You know, I think I've contributed enough.

You can't truly call yourself "peaceful" unless you are capable of great violence. If you're not capable of great violence, you're not peaceful, you're harmless.

Me either. Hell sometimes I even toss Agee extra bucks their way.

After the liberal leftists stir enough shit to destroy the NRA it will be a piece of cake for them to achieve their goals. It’s the exact same playbook they used to take over in Colorado. GOA may be a fine organization, or it may have internal problems as yet unrevealed, but it damn sure doesn’t have the presence of the multiple million member voter bloc of NRA.

Thank you to those who have the foresight to continue to support the NRA despite its current troubles and the efforts of the GDCs to destroy it.

You get it. The left has tried for years to bring down the NRA and couldn’t. They now have gun owners doing it for them and are so proud of those “no longer members”. When we do lose our Rights, we will have done so by those claiming to be in our number.

^^^^^^^^^^

No truer words been spoken (written). The NRA isn't perfect, hell far from it. That said the GDC/Left hates the NRA because it is the most effective organization at stopping them.

I'm a Life member of the NRA, and I just upgraded to Endowment easy pay plan. I had to call the NRA for a new membership card as I lost mine, discovered it when I went to the annual meeting. When I called to get a new card, they asked me if I wanted to upgrade and told me that they were running a discount. So with the easy payment plan, I couldn't pass it up.

So, my feelings are the NRA might not be where I want them to be, but you can't change it if you ain't a member.

Join the NRA, Gun owners of America, JPFO (in which I'm not a member, but have been thinking about joining). Because the NRA is the most effective, GOA is a thorn in their side and JPFO pisses them off.

Congratulations on the OP's upgrade.

Congrats and welcome. All the groups mentioned help support our rights. I’ve sent money to them all. United we stand strong against the wackos.

I now plan on looking into joining GOA next. I also used to be a member of the Texas State Rifle Association. Both the NRA and TSRA did a lot towards helping improve gun carry laws on college campuses. They asked me to testify before the Texas Legislature and I was impressed on how much work they did. I don’t think the laws would have changed without them helping.

I haven’t gotten much other than mail from NRA asking for extra donations; I just throw it away if I don’t feel like giving extra. As others have said, it has been no different from any other organization. If they called me like all the crazy solicitation calls I get, then that would upset me if they didn’t stop when asked.

We need all the help we can get in our fight to protect our rights that others are trying so hard to take away from us. I don’t care who anyone joins; just join someone who actively supports our rights.

Well, the thread made me "pull the trigger" so to speak and I joined the JPFO. Jews for the Presentation of Firearms. I'm not Jewish, but I stand with them in the fight.

So, now I'm a Life member, soon to be Endowment of the NRA, Gun Owners of America member and JPFO member, plus a Life member of the Kentucky State Rifle and Pistol Association.

Give money when you can, let your voice be heard to them and through them!

Call, write, email your elected officials, let's get something going here. Don't stand back, stand up!
