If you've never experienced it consider yourself among the lucky. I've had head congestion for over a week now with my left ear being totally plugged. If you're wondering if this amplify's the ringing in your ears I'm here to tell you it does! I've had tinnitus for so long I can pretty much tune it out for the most part but this is driving me absolutely crazy!! I'm sure this would be considered a enhanced interrogation technique! I started developing tinnitus just a few weeks ago. My doctor told me to try Sudafed. I thought he was off his rocker, but it mostly cleared up within 2 days and for the record I was not sick in any way shape or form. Every try it? ---------- “Nobody can ever take your integrity away from you. Only you can give up your integrity.” H. Norman Schwarzkopf

Funny you say that. I just got back from the clinic a hour ago as I want to get this cleared up as I'm leaving for a out of state fishing trip on Thursday. They gave me Sudafed. Just took my first 12 hour dosage a bit ago. If this clears up my tinnitus I will go back and ask that nurse to marry me! "Fixed fortifications are monuments to mans stupidity" - George S. Last man please report if it stops the ringing. Like you I have had tinnitus in both ears for years. It is normal for me now. I Haven’t even mention it to dr. In a number of years. I’m going to get some Sudafed today...

I don't think Sudafed is a cure for tinnitus. It may diminish the intensity of the ringing, but it's not going to repair the damage . I have it in both ears, it actually over rides my diminished hearing loss in terms of hearing. I have discussed treatments with various ENT's, and all have told me, there is no way to reverse damage to a inner ear . Curious, is Sudafed is okay for people with high blood pressure 美しい犬

... the nurse marries you. I can hear transformers whine in things like TVs and other electronics so I can't tell if what I'm experiencing is intermittent tinnitus or if in just the victim of being surrounded by electrical appliances. Regardless, I'm going to try Sudafed. Does it have to be the pseudoephedrine version or will the phenylephrine type work, too?

Yeah, the Sudafed doesn’t cure tinnitus...it clears up a blocked ear tube, which will reduce the volume of the ringing. I think that is what JBSABOLT2 was getting at. But you can Ask that nurse out anyway Hearing loss is permanent, so is tinnitus. "Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor.” Robert A. So, since mine comes and goes, is not tinnitus? That's encouraging.

I’ve had tinnitus for at least 45 years and don’t notice it very much unless I read something about it...thanks a lot

At this point, I'm wondering if there is any condition that does not improve by dramatically reducing the amount of sugar/carbohydrates consumed. I used to wake up with stuffy nose (rhinitis) every day. That it gone. Can't help with the tinnitus but sudafed doesn't seem like a solution. It's like take pain meds for a pebble in your shoe. Just to be clear I wasn't prescribed the Sudafed for tinnitus but for the congestion. I took my first dose just a couple hours ago and my ears are still screaming so no marriage proposal is forthcoming as of right now. I know Sudafed is no cure for Tinnitus but if it even decreases it at all I'll be happy. I will post if any change. Let me add this. Everything I've read says alcohol makes the tinnitus worse. I've noticed after a couple beers I don't notice it at all! I'm not talking about being black out drunk but just after 2 or 3 I don't notice it. But being shit faced helps too! Good idea to read up on "prolonged use of Sudafed". Like to many medications, the resulting symptoms can be worse than the reason for taking the medication. If people would mind their own damn business this country would be better off. I owe no one an explanation or an apology for my personal opinion.

I have not yet begun to procrastinate |
If you can still hear the whine of a transformer in a TV my guess is you don't have tinnitus. If you do, it's in a very early stage or it would over-ride that whine...and birds and any thing else with a similar pitch. Most shooting timers and my tinnitus are in a battle to see which one will win. Sudafed is pseudoephedrine. Phenylephrine is a different chemical. You don't have to show ID to a pharmacist to get phenylephrine. (as if anyone needed a reason to hate tweekers and feds even more) Both constrict blood vessels in your schnozz which helps with congestion. You would have to try both to see if one works better than the other for you. -------- After the game, the King and the pawn go into the same box.

Tinnitus is permanent, but the degree to which it affects you comes and goes. Caffeine, alcohol, stress, clogged up ears, and more exacerbate the effects.
