My father was in the military, and I went to 5 high schools in four years. I graduated in West Germany, and everyone ended up pretty much scattered around the U. S. I registered to attend a 15-year reunion an alumni association was planning in Orlando for the classes of '83 to '85, but I ended up getting deployed and missed it. I was contacted again for a 30-year reunion but had lost interest and didn't go.

I quit going to reunions after 25 or so years. I only went to a few before that.

My class was small, 106. Yes, we’re all beyond what one does, nobody looks good anymore. I can meet up with the few at other times, I really don’t need to rehash old times again.

Our high school started reunions with the 10th. We just had our 51st (thanks covid!) last year.

And then there's the type that goes to reunions strictly to gloat over how well they've done compared to the others in the class. My brother was one of those and went 3,000 miles for a High School reunion. Got voted most changed and...horrors...2nd most successful.

The guy who was most successful was a guy who was universally thought to be a loser and average student in school, but at the reunion he claimed he owned a dozen McDonald's franchises.

Mrs. Flash went to one High School reunion, the 10th. That was before I met her. She said that the girls who were the "in crowd" were now mostly divorced and on welfare and the people who were thought to be losers were fairly successful. She said she'd never go again.

I had a lot of friends in high school and still like a lot of them. I've only had a 10th, which was a blast. My 20th got cancelled by COVID, hoping to reschedule for 25th. I'll go and I'll most likely have a great time.

The guy who flunked every math class showed up driving a Bentley.

The only school reunion I have attended was the 50th of my high school class in 2005 (yes, I'm THAT old). I have attended several military reunions, however, at various places I served.

The only HS “reunion” that was worthwhile to me was circa 2003 and running into a girl from my homeroom who from 1987-1991 was a little on the homely side but 12 years later when I saw her in a Best Buy, man oh man. A classic case of the ugly duckling and beautiful swan in real life. This girl was HOT and she knew it too, what a difference 12 years makes.

This thread comes at an interesting time for me. My 50th high school reunion is this April, and I'm on the committee.

My group is working on confirming addresses and finding hard-to-locate classmates. The responses we've gotten show a variety of attitudes toward going and staying in touch with others, much in line with what SigForum members have already posted.

Out of a class of 625 or so, there are about 20-25 people I've kept in contact with over the years---some regularly, some occasionally.

At our 20-year reunion, one classmate told me, "Some will never realize that life is a marathon, not a sprint." He was absolutely right about that. There are still "perpetual BMOCs" who even now think they're hot stuff.

Never attended one. My 50th was a few years ago. I only attended that HS for one years and don’t remember a soul - nor do they remember me.
