I have a gold tiger I have been caring for now over 2 years. He is my beautiful friend. I fed him at 4:00 am Saturday morning. I laid back down until 8:00. I found Tige on the front porch, crouched with his head down and eyes closed. I pet him and scratch him and, talk a lot, not that he knows what I am saying..lol. When he laid down for tummy rubbing, I found a large hard bulge on his lower stomach and, he no longer walks with normal speed as he is in pain. He can no longer climb even the lowest places to sleep. Butt stays hiked up when he eats as it hurts him to lower his rear. Neighbor lady has givin me some cat antibiotics as her boy just had a similar issue. He caught me this morning with the applicator trying to get the chewable pill in the back of his throat. It's game on now as he spit it out. I've read this could be cancer. His life quality has already dropped right off. Laying down nearly around the clock. He won't be going to the Vet as they don't work for free and Daddy cannot afford to pay them. I am fucked when it comes right down to it. I truly have not a clue here. I love this little guy and feel like a failure. What to do folks ? My Tiger is my best kitty friend. Tear up just thinking about it.

He needs to get checked out. Talk to the vet. Some will have a taylored payment system for owners who have fixed income or issues. Him suffering should not be an option.

Understood. I have read your kitty thread ORC. I found lots of on line info right after I discovered the hard bulge. He is sleeping here and I want to get his pill down his throat soon. Guess I will try and make a few calls now.

I can send you $100 to help with a vet bill. Let me know and I will send. But plz get him looked at. Might also check with a shelter or Humane society to see if they have a vet to recommend that helps with situations like yours.

Also, giving meds to him not prescribed to him is a really bad idea and could do him harm. Don't do that.

I just called a lady who used to help for free. She only finds homes for them now. I left a message. Tiger is sleeping here and he's taking his pill shortly. It's getting ready to storm again so he will wake up out if fear..lol He don't like the wind and rain. I think he goes under the porch when it thunders. Fireworks, he's gone for several hours.

The Vet is the best option. It could also be a blockage from eating something he shouldn't. I understand the cost - I will also help and send you $100. The vet may also have care credit that lets you make payments.

You need Pill Pockets. They are available at most pet stores. Teese are cat treats you embed the tablet (works best if ground up) in and then feed to the cat.

Mine love the damned things, even with the intact tablets inside.

As for getting your cat examined, count me in for $100.

I will try and find those. Going across the street to talk to a lady who has Tigers brother. She knows a good local Vet. Tiger knows there is something wrong with him down there as he is licking himself now. I tried to get him to let me see and he meowed and growled at me. Poor little guy. I don't think he has ever been in a transporter so that will be interesting.

Little Tiger has a doctor appointment for tomorrow at 1:00. She said they have something called Scratch Pay where they loan me the money and I pay it back. I will learn more if that shortly by text message. I gotta get a transporter ready for him.

OK. He's been licking at it for 35 minutes now. Atop the bulge he has a half inch diameter raised blister looking thing and aside that a dark red blood spot. I got the idea this boy will be wearing one of those head cones tomorrow afternoon.

Well, Tigers bulge is leaking infection yuck, same as his brother did across the street. The lady said that is a good thing. Nasty but good.

if he is an outside cat, most likely an abscess from a bite. once it comes to head, it will bust and drain - pour hydrogen peroxide on it and the vet will give anti-biotics. They look really nasty, but will heal up nicely

This is the issue with his brother across the street. He got in a scrap with another male. The Clavamox medicine cleared him up but he too leaked all the yuck from his lumps. This is most likely what happened to my Tiger.

Clark, dog not cat, has the usual aversion to pills, I crumple his daily Dasaquin (joint lube) into powder in with his dinner. Dinner is topped wih a tasty treat which he eats through getting the med with it. Might be worth a try, if he continues to have an appetite. Good luck with getting him the treatment he needs and getting over this speed bump.

A trip to the vet is needed. Infections can kill.
Many on here will kick up some $$. I paid $600 for my cat to get an enema meds X-ray then 30 days later paid $300 for the same treatment. Now I have to give him Metamucil once a day and it’s not easy. He is 16 and also suffering from a thyroid issue but it’s under control but we know he won’t be around much longer.
