Heck, just 650 miles from my old home in New Yorks upstate and noone seems to have ever heard of birch beer. I dont hardly ever drink soda pop. Maybe a Stubborn root beer every now and then. A cream soda is a fiiiiiine refreshment but only once in a while. If birch beer actually is made from birch trees, I'd better understand as those trees may only exsist in the north eastern US. Who here knows of birch beer ?

I love Birch Beer, and around here the only reliable source for it has been Rural King. Unfortunately, it's almost 30 miles to the closest one to me which is in Shelbyville, KY.

Birch Beer is a cousin to Root Beer, which I also like. The brand of Birch Beer is Frostop, 32oz I think it's a $1.00.

Sure... Stewart's still makes it I believe.

I has real hand made birch beer as a kid at a "historical village" type place. Not like bottled stuff.

Loved Pennsylvania Dutch Birch Beer growing up. I remember getting it really fresh at the Kutztown State Fair (goes well with funnel cake for a true sugar high).

You can get it in Texas at a few places that have extensive soft drink selections, but growing up I don't think I'd heard of it and I'm sure no one I knew drank it regularly. (E.g., there is a national chain of stores called "Rocket Fizz" that pretty much just sell soft drinks and candy and typically have 100+ different soft drinks.)

I got it sometimes when I lived in Connecticut. I like it. I like that whole family of soft drinks... Root beer, ginger beer, sarsaparilla, etc.

I personally can't stand cream soda, though.

One of my all time favorites. I know Polar is offering it.

I grew up in Pa so yeah, I know what it is. Haven't had one for years.

Thanks, now I'm craving one and I've never seen it for sale out here in Ok.

Speaking of sodas you can only get in certain places, anyone familiar with Vernor's Ginger Ale? It's excellent and doesn't taste like any other ginger ale I've ever had. It's also a regional thing.

NJ definitely sells birch beer. Probably because NJ is inundated with Black Birch trees. Which are also where Wintergreen smell comes from for gum and stuff.

Now I’m craving a Stewart’s Birch Beer.

I used to drink it in New Haven, CT where my dad grew up. Foxon Park makes the best.

There is a simple solution to this!!!!!

Go eat at Ken-Tex BBQ then go to Rural King.

Well worth the 30 mile drive.

Birch Beer is good. Though I most prefer the red style.

If you are 30 miles from Shelbyville are you closer to Louisville??
If so go check out Joellas Chicken. Not sure about every location and I have not been to the either Louisville location but ours has Birch Beer in the fountain!!
