StlheadAmerican lawyer in Panama shoots dead two "eco-protesters" who were blocking a road
This sort of thing is a symptom of the collapse of society. Not the shooting, the protest, and the ensuing clamor about the guy being wrong to defend himself. Everyone has the right to protest, but they don’t have the right to infringe on some else’s rights while doing it. Interfering with peoples ability to get where they want and need to go should be punished, I think 5 lashes would be appropriate, but I am an asshole. If you as a consenting adult are stupid enough to lay in the road in an attempt to fuck with random people you deserve to get run over or shot and left in the ditch. Calling a crime a protest is the current fad, but that does not make it right. The guy that did the shooting should have got a fine for littering.

gearhoundsI’m curious what the trigger was to open fire (pun intended). Was it irritation at being inconvenienced? Did he feel threatened and intimidated? Did perhaps one of the “protesters” tell him if he tries to pass they will kill him? We don’t know the answer yet.
Personally, I would never have gotten out of my car; I would lay on the horn and move slowly forward. At the first sign I was under attack, I would have no compunctions about gunning it to preserve my life. The fact that these are claimed to be teachers means zip to me. In fact, you’d think teachers would have a better understanding of how stupid inhibiting or intimidating others is. Go protest at the capital or perhaps the presidential residence, not a road while trying to force others to agree with you.

nhtagmembermaybe there is a bright spot in this in the fact that people may not feel so invincible any longer and that if they have the possibility of being killed while protesting something, the cause better be worth their life

RightwireThe thing that gives these protestors power is the lack of consequences. They can disrupt anything with absolute impunity and not a single care of the hurt they are imposing on normal people just trying to get through their day.

That mentality is prevalent across society now - no sense of accountability or fear of consequences.......as an analog to "an armed society is a polite society", it's time to put some fear into these types.

jed7s9bIMHO, most of these people are likely there to get their kicks on a power trip. The protesting is just a cover to justify inflicting themselves on other folks for the joy of it. Those fucking with other people deserve what they get in return. The rest deserve those lashes mentioned above.

OMG! I was unable to guess what that was. Perhaps because his face looked as though he'd just finished yawning. That MFer just killed a human being at that moment. Wow

At some point one needs to disassociate thugs and miscreants as "human beings" and perform the needed action. Otherwise a moment of moral hesitation may result in our own demise.
Do I "want" to kill someone - NO.
But if the need arises to defend myself or others I will without the slightest hesitation.

I hope you get my point about being held hostage. These fucks believe that because THEY THINK THEY'RE RIGHT, that they have the RIGHT to hold everyone hostage until they get their way. Climate protests, BLM protests, etc. They're all the same. We'll hold your road, your building, your life for ransom. THE RANSOM? Whatever bullshit they're spewing. What's gonna happen when some dumbasses stage a pro Palestine protest on 66 or Rt 50 on a Friday afternoon about 4PM all because they hate Jews?
This x1000. People make claims like, "they should have the right to protest like this, it's only a "minor convenience."" No, that's the BEST case scenario. What if one of the hundreds or thousands of people you are holding captive is on their way to the hospital? What about the emergency vehicles that get stuck because of your "protest."
Holding people captive in an attempt to further a political agenda is not the definition of "protest," its the definition of "terrorism."
You guys are spot on. None of us has any idea the potential life threatening consequences of blocking our roads, and to claim doing so is a mere inconvenience is ignorant at best. These protestors don't let ambulances through, they don't let trucks carrying medicine go through, they have no idea if I'm going home because my mom broke her hip and needs help... holding the public hostage is absolutely the right way to phrase this situation. And hostage takers should be shot. Until the media shows these protests going poorly for the protestors, there will be more.
I would not have done what this gentlemen did, but I would acquit him if I were on a jury. Civilized society is watching these morons destroy priceless works of art, clog the roads of our cities, even engage in terrorism, and our police stand paralyzed with inaction. It's an outrageous state of affairs which cannot be sustained. More of this will happen.

400mShooting these twits? No
Zip ties
Baseball bats
Fishing nets
Good ol’ fashion boot stomping
Any of these would be a much better response in my opinion. It’s hard to walk back onto the road when you have two busted ankles or your hands zip tied to a tree.
I’m not gonna watch a loved one die in traffic because they couldn’t get to dialysis. These self centered morons need a good solid year in a work prison.

nhtagmemberI will have to respectfully disagree
The only way to eliminate this behavior is to eliminate those engaged in it.
Stand on the side of the road with a sign. I’m ok with that. Stand in the middle of the road and impede my travel then all bets are off. You’re now just an obstacle to drive over. Like other road trash.
We cannot afford to be nice to any of these people any longer. The risks are too high.

benny6The people who blocked traffic brought this upon themselves. Don't want trouble, don't start trouble.
As was posted previously. Protest on the sidewalk or side of the road.

I missed the 77 years old part. Bear spray and a bat?

TigerDoreI hate that people were killed, but I don't know what else these people expect when they are blocking busy freeways that include people trying to get to work, deliver the basic necessities in trucks and, occasionally, paramedics and other emergency vehicles. If they haven't already, they are going to cost the lives of other people.
This isn't protest, it is anarchic behavior. Their actions are selfish and irrational. They are emotionally immature and the willing tools of totalitarians.
They seem to have a death wish. The man was wrong, but this is on the government for not arresting them and clearing the road quickly. When law enforcement disappears, then vigilantism is going to fill the void.
